USB connection trouble
Greetings! I am having difficulties getting my PC (or any PC for that matter) to recognize my phone when I connect via USB. I installed the Samsung drivers (GalaxyS_64), but when I plug in the phone, the PC starts looking for a "7 CDCs" driver. I've read that this will happen if the phone USB has been set to modem instead of PDA in the phoneutils menu. But when I checked the setting via *#7284# in the dial pad, it was set correctly to PDA.
The phone never recognizes anything beyond the fact that it is charging. No USB symbol in the notification bar, no chance to mount.
Also, if I power the phone off while it is connected to the PC via USB, it will not stay off, but instead just reboots. If I have the phone off and then plug it in, it boots up automatically.
I'm guessing an app has done something to mess up the USB settings, because the USB connection did work a while back. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, tried friend's PCs, done a factory data reset on the phone, but nothing has helped.
I appreciate any tips/ideas.
