My Captivate has burn-in (yes yes, image persistence or whatever you want to call it) at the top where the clock bar is. If I turn on a white screen, I can see **** PM, the alarm symbol and part of the battery meter along with a band all the way across the top.

Any suggestions on what to do about it?

My phone is on a lot, but not 24/7 by any means. I've had it since a few days after release. This really shouldn't happen. The gps thing irritated me (still does), but this really disappoints me.

I have the same thing from the "battery charged" notification. It doesn't really bother me that much, but it shouldn't happen.
