Default Kies Mini stuck during Froyo 2.2 update

I'm trying to download froyo following the directions from Samsung's site, and kies mini keeps stays on 'Downloading Binary Files" . This is my sixth time trying and the bar won't move. Is there any other way to download the update without kies?

I am having the same issue. I contacted one of the IDIOTS at Samsung via their "Live 24/7 chat" feature, and the guy explained to me that despite what is written on their website, if you are running a 64-bit operating system, you are basically screwed because they can't support 64-bit processing. I can understand this argument if we were talking about an old program, but this update was released just yesterday and I still find it hard to believe that this is the cause of the issue. I have even tried running the update on my 32-bit XP system, but to no avail. I'm not sure what the deal is, but the product support, or lack thereof is totally unacceptable. We paid good money for our phones, and I speak for myself and I'm sure many others that we bought our phones because we either didn't want to buy an iPhone or got tired of Apple and their compatibility issues. Hell, jailbreaking my old iPhone was a LOT easier than what Samsung is asking us to do in order to upgrade to 2.2. Why they are asking us to do it this way doesn't make sense anyway, since the phones have a built-in update feature under Settings (which obviously doesn't work). I wish I could find a solution to this issue, but thus far, I've come up short. If I do happen to come up on a solution, I will be sure to post it here.

I to have windows 7 64 bit so what I did was to go to a friend of mind
that had vista 32 bit and and I down loaded and I have froyo 2.2 using
att instructions every thing went flawless and all is working great for me. So save your self some aggravation . I know you can find someone out their with a 32 bit.

I had bad luck running this update from a 32-bit OS as well, but last week, I came across this post right here on the forum and this solved my problem. Try this out and it should work: Having trouble updating to Froyo (official) with a 64-bit OS? Try this...
