Default Notification troubles..

I have a Captivate rooted running the latest stock froyo.

I am wondering if there is a way that i can set my notifications to give me the sound but not turn on my screen?

I'm kinda fat so when i walk and get a notification my thigh will hit buttons and place some emergency calls. I've been told if i misused 911 again (on a 1 in a million chance that my thigh dials 911 again) i could be brought up on charges so this is a biggie.

Second, Any strong suggestions for an application for retrieving my work e-mail through an exchange server? I currently use Moxier and it won't sync when my wifi is on. Tried power cycling the device and same result. Not attached because it's still in the trial so I haven't paid money yet.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can try widgetlocker its $2 but should solve any pocket dialing issues. Do you not use the lock screen on the captivate? I didnt think there was a way to disable that puzzle piece notification screen that comes up.

Ill try Widgetlocker.

I use the pattern lockscreen (of course anyone that would steal my phone could easily get around this so i'm not sure why) but notifications turn the screen on and it's possible to make an emergency call without unlocking the device.

I never noticed that before. But widgetlocker is like a separate lock screen that you can place app shortcuts on etc and can set to bypass the stock lock screen so when you get a text email or even a call its not so easy to have your pocket answer or dial out.

You can even get different themes from xda there is an option in the widgetlocker screen that will take you to the xda page with the themes

WidgetLocker is exactly what i needed. Thank you very much. Currently i'm setting up my widgetlocker background. Using a screen shot of the same background with a slider on it as the background so theres a fake slider there. it'll be alot of fun. Thank you again.

There's a free app called No Lock that disables the puzzle piece screen.
