Default Problems syncing Exchange contacts with car

Hello. I have done a lot of searching on this, but forgive me if I overlooked something. I am trying to help my supervisor set up his new Captivate with his Dodge Uconnect radio in his car. The problem I am having is once paired the mobile phonebook in the car shows only a single contact - "MyINFO" with a phone number of 0000000000. The only contacts on his phone are "Corporate" Exchange contacts. He has no contacts stored to the phone or SIM and no Gmail is set up. I have tried pairing and unpairing several times. Here's the kicker, I got this working just a few days ago, but he had to get a new phone because of a scratch. I wasn't sure exactly how I got it working before, and sure enough it is causing me more grief now.

I am not interested in any workarounds or 3rd party solutions. I know this phone is capable of syncing the Exchange contacts to the Uconnect system, just can't figure out how.

Anybody have the same problem? Any helpful tips?

Thanks in advance.

Do you happen to know what Android version he had in the old phone? I'm guessing 2.1 (maybe). What is in the new phone? Android 2.2? if this is a true assumption on my side, then the problem is in the Android 2.2. I recently tested a 2 different Captivates on the Uconnect system. (1) with 2.1 and the other with 2.2. The 2.1 downloaded the phone book properly and the 2.2 does not download the phonebook at all. I sent a contact at Samsung that I have the traces of this issue and I am waiting for a reply.
I will try to borrow them again tomorrow to look into this further.
