So this is driving me crazy on my Samsung Captivate with 2.2...

Anytime someone sends me a photo via text message, it shows up next to their text as a video. I tap it, and it goes into the video player as a 10 second clip, even though the photo will just sit there for 10 seconds. I can't long tap and save the photo because the phone seems to think it is a video.

The same thing happens when I take a picture and text it to someone (except then it's a 5 second video - still just the still photo but it 'plays' for 5 seconds). It's just saved in my gallery as a photo, but for whatever reason when I TEXT that photo it shows up in my text message stream as a video.

Any ideas?

I've been looking for the same answer. it is annoying if you want to save the photo.

I have the same problem. It would be nice to find out what is causing this to happen. I've even done a factory reset, cleared all caches, and restored backups from before this issue started. All for nothing. The problem still exists. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Sorry it's happening to you, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's a little thing, but it's driving me crazy!!

I just got my captivate a few days ago and I love it except for this issue. I can send pictures in texts and the recipient gets it as a picture. When someone sends me a picture the phone recognizes it as a 10 second video and will not let me save the picture to the gallery. This is extremely annoying as I have an adorable niece whose mom sends me pics frequently and I like to save them so I can see them again. I stopped at my local AT&T store where I bought the phone and they said it was a problem on the sender's end. I don't think that can be it because it has happened with different phones, including a iPhone 3Gs, an HTC Inspire and a Boost Mobile. Ideas or fixes????

This happens randomly to me. Just today I tried 3 times to message a picture to facebook and it does not show up. when I check my sent messages, all 3 of the pictures have been converted to 5 second videos.

it does not happen all the time, but seems to be more and more frequently and I cannot seem to figure out why.

I was able to send my sister the picture, she is on a BB.

i was having this same problem but now i have figured it out. first u go to your message tread and click on the picture(shows as video) the picture will start playing like its a video soo u click on the oppitions button at buttom of ur phone (button farthest to the left and looks like a haif box with 2 lines in it. next options wil pop up u click on the one that says attached files (has paper clip above it)then it will show u the name of the pic and will say save or cancel. MAKE SURE U CLICK THE PIC NAME SO THE GREEN CHECK IS LIT UP BESIDE THE NAME IF U DONT THIS WILL NOT WORK!!!!!!!! then u cick save and it will be in ur gallery in an album named download
