Question SGH-i927 refuses to unlock

Hello, I recently purchased an i927 Captivate Glide and it was working flawlessly up until a couple of days ago. Now, sometimes when I press the unlock button the phone refuses to respond. I have tried the volume controls, sliding the phone open and holding the unlock button. The only thing I can do to get the phone to respond and unlock is either remove and replace the battery and turn the phone back on, or wait until the phone decides to respond which may be anywhere between 10 seconds and 2 minutes.

I'm thinking it's something on the software side, does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this? It's currently running Gingerbread 2.3.5 and the only installed apps I have are Bridge Architect, Angry Birds, Drag Racing, Blast Monkeys, My Data Manager, Simple Calendar and TeslaLED.
All help appreciated as I am relatively new to Android. Thank you.
