Default Change Location.

OK, I've already read where several people want you to "use the search" function and those who post threads without searching first. I know it can be frustrating for those who seem to answer the same questions over and over, but to those new to these gadgets, it's frustrating for us to find what we need using the search function. So please be patient, not everyone has the knowledge, that's why we are here. That being said, if you want to flame or demean me for not knowing this simple stuff, don't post.

Last week I bought a Casio Commando, my first smart phone, my first Android device. As a matter of fact I just started TEXTing about a month ago. I really like the phone, but there are some things I can't figure out.

#1 when I open the phone, I have several screens (swiping back and forth, is that the correct term?) and one of the screens shows the temperature or forecast (for today and tomorrow), the problem is, it is set for New York. Now I have no problem with NY, but I don't live there, or anywhere close, so it is of absolutely no use to me. How in the heck do I change that location? I have tried looking for the correct menu that allows me to change it. I thought maybe it had to do with the GPS function, but if I turn on the GPS it doesn't update to my location. so what am I missing?

Thanks in advance for those willing to help a smartphone idiot.

Oh, I tried the search and came up with nothing........

I also tried updating the app (which came on the phone).

And if it makes a difference, I'm on Verizon.

Don't worry, no one is going to flame you for asking a question, that's not what we're about. Whilst it would be nice if folk searched before they posted, it's not a requirement.

There are plenty of other weather widgets available on the market, maybe one of those will have your particular location.

I'll move your thread to the commando subforum, that way users of the phone may be able to provide a better solution.

Don't be shy to ask a question...

To update the location on the default weather widget, turn on your GPS, then tap the widget, choose Update and it will read the GPS location. You'll need to be outside or near a window.

The Gz Gear suite also has a screen to choose three locations for temp. Open the thermometer and when it comes up, hit the menu button at the bottom and hit Point Selection. It's like the Tides, in that it only has a preset selection.

Now, if someone could tell me how to mute the snap-out menu, I'd be very appreciative!

Thanks...I had tried the "update", but apparently did not have the GPS turned on, as I just tried it and it worked. I found the three location thing and set them, but again not very close to my actual location. Set the daughters home (KC), the only setting for KS (Wichita) and Denver.

These things can be so frustrating at times. Thanks for the help.
