Default Accurate "Battery Use" Breakdown

Does anybody have a fix for the battery use breakdown to work correctly. I understand that quite a few of us Commando users only see it as a 50/50% split between "Dailer" and "Android System"

There have been few times (between updates downloaded and applied) that I've had a a real breakdown including (maps, music, idle network, etc) of which they were relatively accurate. This leads me to believe it's a software problem (since it's just a breakdown of processor use).

Is this something that has been fixed on other devices and can be applied to these? I've searched with no luck and also posted on android central. Thanks.

Actualy about that; If I power use like a mofo, maps, maverick, music mixing/breaking (like G-stomper), slacker streaming... essentialy on my way to a 10-18 hour battery (which is short for my norm, you've probably read other posts about this) everything will show accurate. The trick to it is if my normal medium use (the stuff that stretches me down to 10% after 40 or so hours) is not processor dependant it would make sense that it would be less than 1% of the battery used and would not show.

For an experiment, right after you pull your phone off the charger at 100% charge, enable GPS and open google maps, let it find you and follow you as you brush your teeth and get ready for work for about 10 minutes. shut down maps and disable GPS, you should (in a few minutes) see maps as 98% or so of your battery used (which will most likely be 3-5%) now as your day goes check it periodicaly and the number will shrink, in approximately 20-30 hours of no use of maps, maps will disapear from your meter and you will be left with that classic 50/50 system/dialer that we are so used to on this phone.

Just to clarify, your dialer is actualy ALOT of processes we expect from our smart phone, many of them you may think to be more appropriately system apps but their not (like sync, setting your clock, checking for/sending texts, sending/recieving E-mails, contact back-up between stupid B/U assistant google and any other such account). You will likely rarely see the screen in the usage bar due to the fact that we have a tiny low res screen, and as long as you properly close/back out of your programs they should not chew up CPU cycles.

Short answer, yes, I have looked into it extensivly, if you don't use like a MOFO (get 24+ hours on a battery from 100% to 0%) thats about what you should see. if you add "screen" to the list you have what all the super phones show with normal usage; ~20% screen ~60% system ~20%Dialer/SIM.

Good luck,
John

BTW I had a friend tell me he was worried about his battery, he "had to charge it every night when he got home from work and again in the mornings" turns out he thought 50% was dead.... He also had slacker set to auto cache 10 stations every night while the phone was unpluged... don't be that guy! Not saying you are, actualy it's kinda unrelated, just putting it out there.

I have the same issue. I have only once seen it different. And I am a power user. I use my phone as a GPS, and I am a truck driver. Maps is up probably 10 hours a day. MP3 player, scanner radio, and an assortment of apps play all day long. They never show.

You run all that on the battery?? 10 hours of GPS? No way! I take one trip using Google Nav and its dead in 3 hours.

Maps itself can probably run 10 hours a day realy, I don't know why but it only pulls about half the juice the full google navigator does. anyhow, It is strange that even running maps extensively it doesnt log in as a larger percentage, I dont know what the issue would be with that. heres an update on mine though since the 100 update, 2D 7H 53S on battery. android system at 71% Dialer at 30%... which is odd as thats 101%...? Any how this is light/medium use, overthe last 3 days I have only used slacker for 3 hours ish and maps for about 15 minutes, sent about 40 texts recieved about as many, about 30 minutes of talk time, but have taken in like 5 app updates ... Good luck with your "50/50" issue, I don't for the moment dissagree with the stats I'm showing but it is usualy alot closer to 50/50 and usualy about right... when you're using your G-maps in the rig you do have standalone GPS on right or just carrier?

Default same problem just suddenly quit

I was in the middle of writing a reply to this post and my commando shut down. When I started it again, I checked the battery usage, and it is working now.

I was writing that i have been experiencing the same problems. I have only had the dialer and the android system showing on the battery usage. When I first bought my commando I left the country the next day. The battery usage showed everything that was running on my phone. When I came back to the states the phone downloaded an update from Verizon. It seemed that ever since the update that it wasn't working. Now I would attribute the sudden functioning of the battery use chart to the fact that I uninstalled about six apps today including ( but not limited to); Google goggles, woot watcher, drawing neon, bubble level, Google currents, rhythm software file manager, Google sky map, and more.

I hope it keeps working. If not, I'm just going to install a third party battery monitor.

I have seen many threads on Battery issues and am concerned about it. I am a truck driver as well as "Hotel". My phone is the C771M110, the longest battery status as of this after noon is 4D 20H 17M 40S. The catch is...I shut everything off that isn't needed while I am driving. So it is just a phone until I get to a hotel or shut down for the night.
Anyhow, as for percentages, "John58ford" has it right, to my experience. My phone used to show different %'s when it was new but as it is over a month old now, and I use it mostly as a phone, it shows 50/50.

Good luck ya'all
