Default Just rooted your phone? Here's some apps to check out.

It'd be advantageous to list our favorite root apps so new people (to rooting) know what they can do. Some apps have free or paid versions. Sometimes paid versions are just for donations, sometimes you get more features for 'donating'.

Nice!

I also use quick boot to restart into recovery. At least until mik gets it incorporated into his rom.

Any paradise island players can use the trainer now too.

MyBackup Root (not Pro) has been free for some time - very convenient.

Roam control. Allows you to force roaming whenever/wherever. I believe it costs 3.99. Not sure, as I bought it awhile ago and it wont tell me a price.

Quick boot. Reboot, shut down, go to recovery, and go to bootloader with one button press. Quick boot is free, quick boot plus is 1.99 and has extra features.

Just curious, for what reason would you want to force roam?

Let's say you get crap Sprint signal at home or work, yet there is a known tower you can roam off of that offers better signal. Roam control allows you to latch onto that roaming tower instead of being forced to stay on the Sprint tower(due to the fact that you still have a Sprint signal, and Sprint takes priority).

Thanks. Roam control does cost $4. It also doesn't require root for HTC devices. Put it up there in case someone wanders in from a different manufacturer, though.

Sprint and Verizon have a roaming agreement. You can force roam onto VZW for no extra cost, if need be. If you abuse it, Sprint can cancel your service. But there's conflicting testimonials to that.

Roaming internationally would be a very big bill, though.

Whut. News to me. Good to know though, thanks.

(Now that I think about it, yeah I never recall roam control asking for superuser permission)

MyBackup Root has far fewer options and is far less of a power tool.

However - if you want something that will back up (and allow batch restore) of all your apps (+/- data) as well as bookmarks, SMS, and so forth.

Not shown in this screen is Contacts -

mbr-1.jpg

They sell an add-on called MyToolbox that makes it more Titanium-like, adding cache cleaner and freeze and so forth.

I like to recommend it, especially for new rooters, because as a free tool, it gives you an unlimited number of backups, not just one, and has a super-simple interface to protect settings, and that other stuff. Show of hands - how many people on their first use of Titanium lost that stuff? (me)

Search on Paradise Island in the Market, plenty of stuff there.

I think you missed the thread you wanted - this is for rooting the Evo 3D.

Tell me where you meant to post and I'll move it for you.

I think he was referencing post #3.

I don't think I would link a game cheat app here. Doesn't feel like it meets the spirit of the thread. Even if root is required to use it. Besides:

http://market.android.com/search?q=paradise+island+trainer&so=1&c=apps

________________

Switching gears: I may even try MyBackupRoot, then. I have been an off-and-on user of TB and still don't know how to fully use it.

The paradise island trainer was removed from the market a while back. It's still available on the net though so if anyone wants it send me a pm.

So Titanium Backup only lets you do 1 backup in the free version? It doesnt say that on mine?

Wow, what do I do with all these little .apk s in my sd card TB folder? do they have all my saved info in there with them from the app?

I haven't checked lately, but they used to do one free backup at a time only in Titanium - so only backup back in time, at a time, if that makes sense.

Best to stay out of the TB folder - you're hosed if you break anything there.

TB has options to save apps or apps+data - what you chose is what you saved.

i prefer tb to mybackup, and i bought both but have had tb pro since last year, i would say both work well for backing up apps and app data but i like how tb back ups system settings which works well going from stock based rom to stock based rom. Both are well worth the money

Interesting. It wouldn't do that with my DX. I just assumed that the in app ads got around it somehow.

People that don't root or care about calls just go Airplane mode.

I have an app that when I use Adfree, it detects and advertises its paid version - very cool, because until then I didn't even realize that they one.

A lot can happen in a few days...redundant OP but good information nonetheless, so thank you! But, you better hurry and root your phone before HTC releases new OTA.

The MyBackup Pro application will give you all items MyBackup Root gives, plus the ability to migrate to a new phone, online backups, and it comes with the MyToolbox features for free.

Shoot Me by Johan Cletens, (takes good screen shots)

ClockworkMod by CWMod, (perfect for updating my recovery image if need be.)

ShootMe may be gone forever (sob)...

ShootMe removed from the market?

If you have a 2.08-based rom, you can use the built-in screen shooter.

Good thing I kept the APK, so if I flash a Custom Rom at least I can re-load it, before anyone ask, I cannot post it as it is against the rules, unless i believe you get the OK from the Dev, sorry

I made a post a while back with some apps.

http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all-things-root/386823-just-rooted-your-phone-heres-some-apps-check-out.html

I recommend DroidWall and Autostarts. Permissions Denied is also a good one, but takes a lot of time of tinkering. Between DroidWall, Permissions Denied, some new knowledge of how logcat works, and Google's constant push to make Android more secure, I feel pretty good about my device's security.
