Default Dead after ROM Flash?

well after flashing frozen rom this morning on 100% battery, installed fine, booted up, rebooted as suggested. and now here's the interesting part. once it was in the process of rebooting, splash screen came up and everything just goes black. won't power back on, won't charge, isn't even recognized by laptop when plugged in, can't even get to the bootloader.

i do beleive i've got a brick on my hands :/

and it's off to the sprint store tomorrow.

Don't be so sure, not easy to brick an 3VO. plug it in the charger and leave it plugged in for a while, if I get a chance when done at work i will see what we can do, I will also see if Scotty is around, I am swamped here at work right now, but i will send him a quick PM

Wow that Sounds like a really odd prollem! Had you gotten to s offing yet? Or are you still s on?

Brian got his phone Stuck in a deep sleep mode.. the fix was to plug in to a wall charger (not a pc) for at least 8 hours.

Are you gettng found device noises when you plug in? Try holding vol down/power while plugged in,and see if you get any noises then.

Try pulling the battery for a couple minutes, then try hboot again.

Sounds like its either in deep sleep,or in qualcom diagnostic mode.(you'll see qhusb_download in device manager). But it also could be some wierd, random hardware failure,or battery failure.

Ill ponder for a bit and see if I can come up with anything else.

Oops. I meant to reply to this earlier and got side tracked. I was going to mention the deep sleep. I left it plugged into the wall all night. Then in the morning there was still no charging light or any response. I did a battery pull and it started right up.

Also, while rooting an Inspire I had a similar issue (probably a long shot) but I couldn't get to the bootloader and it wasn't making any noise when I plugged it into the computer but sure enough when I typed adb reboot bootlader it took me right to the bootloader. Screen was black and no response but the command worked.

That is exactly why I asked him yo leave it plugged into the charger. The Deep sleep mode is a know issue of some rooted device. It also happened to me a few times on the my old HTC Hero back in the day. He said he would be out for the night, so lets see what happens in the AM. I was swamp today so had no time. hopefully we can get him squared away.

Well if you tried everything suggested above, I do not know what else you can do, you can have Sprint check it out, they maybe able to find you a refurbished one, they still have them here. Maybe Scotty will think of something else.

You should take it as it is yours for your damaged phone replacement and sell it on eBay, at least it will pay for you SG II

Or you can buy yourself a used 3VO

Lol, everyone is probably too scared to flash it now...

But for real, it's possible it was a corrupt download. Always important to verify the md5. It really bugs me when the md5 isn't offered. It literally takes a few seconds to generate.

I hope all I had was a corrupt file, I haven't seen any reports of other bad happenings like this.

Not giving up hope though

Yep I checked over at XDA and no others issues that I could see relevant.

Another thing I check quickly is file size, just to make sure they are the same when downloaded.

Md5 is important though. A corrupt download can brick your phone. I feel bad for ya. I am eligible for upgrade but don't even want to. I'd miss my 3vo too much! You should throw a bigger fit and demand an LTEvo

I should demand an LT3vo but that'd be pointless

One thing I will say about this device, it's got some massive storage, 2gig internal, 14gig internal sd on top of my new 30gig sd card I bought.

The question is did you root it yet ?

Have you also checked the MD5 on the file you flashed to your 3vo to see if it was corrupted, I would be very curious.

I know you mentioned that, but you still have the file, you can check it now for peace of mind to see, unless you already deleted it.

for what its worth, the chances of damaging any phone, but espeically an s on one with a corrupt system or boot flash are slim to none. dont beat yourself up over it,even if the md5 is off. you should have been able to get to bootloader and fix a bad system/boot flash.

glad you found somethin your happy with, but i hate to see ya leave the htc club

im putting my $$ at this point on wierd, random component failure(maybe emmc?) as if something had happend, casueing the processor to freak out and enter a "do not boot" mode, youd have "found device!" noices and device manager should show it as QHUSB_download. ill keep pondering, tho

have you tried anything since the charge light reapeared?

i also have to snicker a lil about us guides and a mod continuing our discussion on the rom thread if yall want, maybe we could pull the relevant posts to thier own thread and keep discussing it there,to not confuse the locals on this one i dont believe the rom had anything to do with the unfortunate scenario,so maybe we should,to keep folks from bein sceert of it

Lol that sounds like a good idea, whoever gets to it first I guess

But I haven't really had time to do anything or try anything with it yet. I'll let you know when I get home later if the laptop picks up a noise or not when I connect it.

Also whatever happened to the 3vo, completely wiped out my entire sd card. Went to pop it into the new phone to get my music and all transferred over, ain't a single thing on it lol not even my old nands or tb backups

If I had wifi or lived in a 4g area I'd have no problem doing that (too impatient to use sprints horrid 3g network for that )

If baby 3vo happens to rise from the dead (which she seems to be trying to do ) thinking maybe it's something an ruu couldn't fix if we can get it into the bootloader at least.

Well she's not dead, I would venture to say that Scotty will suggest you somehow get the RUU on your SD card and hope it finds it under the next bootload. The weird thing is how you got everything wiped off your SD card, are you sure if you did a wipe partition, you didn't hit the full wipe and not except for SD card ??

Man if you were s-off you could run the PG86IMG version of the ruu...

Is it possible your recovery is gone for some reason? Try flashing it through fastboot again.

Or try booting through fastboot. fastboot boot recovery recovery.img

I did like I would always flash and just choose wipe cache/dalvik and fr, otherwise when it began to install rom, it would say unable to find frozen.zip right?

Sounds like your recovery is gone. I'd help you with commands, but have not had to use them in over 3 years, Brian or Scotty would be best for that.

I think Scotty would prefer you be able to load the RUU.exe, that would give you a clean install.

Alright, though I've never ran an ruu before so I'd need some steps in doing it

Just download to your computer and go into fastboot usb and run it. It had a few instructions like disable screen saver and htc sense etc.... I would definitely check the md5 before running the Ruu though... I'm pretty sure it contains things that can brick you if corrupted!

wow, this looks like potential good news!

i wonder if your battery is shorting out,or flakey?

id run the .exe for the build your currently on(this one: Shipped ROMs case you need to up,you can.

youll need to relock to run it,or a full PG86IMG in hboot.

if you select fastboot, does it go? or turn off?

put phone in fastboot, open cmd, then fastboot oem lock

youll prolly get a security warning since youre on a custom rom, wich is no biggie.

run the .exe with the phone in this mode. cross fingers

since youve got a charge light now,i think id give it some time to see if it turns green

if you cant get the .exe to run,you can extract rom.zip, and rename to PG86IMG,or just download the .zip: Shipped ROMs

i do beleive they are self checking somehow, and will not run if they have somehow become corrupt. ive had a few instances where they would start, then flash off and disapear. redownloaded, and they worked

I also agree with Scotty, I would check your battery to make sure it is good, it is possible it did get shorted, I have seen it before. Wish while you were at Sprint that they would of checked it, that should of been the first thing they did.

It's not the battery as I've got a spare that I tried in it and to no avail still the same problem.

I just went to the Site you linked me to for the ruu zip, giving me (ruu doesn't exist) and (error in query)

I haven't plugged the 3vo yet to the laptop, way it looks it won't be until tomorrow, but it doesn't turn off when I select fastboot.

Also I can't run the PG86IMG while s on though can I?

sure... you can run PG86IMG while s-on. you just have to relock, and you must use the build that youre on or newer, not one thats older.

not sure whats up with the shipped rom links... see if this takes you to the shooter page:
Shipped ROMs
