Yes, you can. It is good that you took the updates as there have been big changes. This rooting is a wipe and replacement of your operating system on the phone, but it replaces it with the exact same thing just rooted.

Let me know if you need any help. Once there you can still ROM with things like Humble, but you must make sure that the ROM is updated to match also just for info.
