I will be buying a new laptop in the next few months. I want a high performance, desktop replacement with at least 8GB of RAM. I would like to keep it under $2,000--under $1700 if possible.

I will be playing games, watching BluRay movies, running VirtualBox, as well as using it for day-to-day tasks.

I've looked at the HP Envy and Asus G73JH. The MSi GT 680 looks beautiful, but I think I want a 17" and I have no idea how much it's going to cost.

Thoughts?

I do not want a MacBook.

I would even dare say you shouldn't spend over $1500 USD for those specs. I've come across a few powerful laptops (I'm in the market for purchasing one for myself as well) which I'll link a few to you.
