Default Linksys e2000 question

So I just bought this linksys e2000 wireless router because my 7 year old linksys router died yesterday. In the settings it has 2.4 or 5 gigahertz setting and when I put it on 5 ghtz my phone can't find the network. Why????

Why can't you hear your buddy talking from 3 feet away when another person is screaming in your ear? Switch it to the 2.4Ghz, and the interference should go away.

Most wireless devices operate on the 2.4GHz band. You need a device that can utilize the 5GHz band. 5GHz gives you more channels to avoid interference from other devices. However, even that is not a huge issue as its made out to be.
