Default Linux Distro for Dell Latitude D810 Recommendations

I installed Ubuntu, but I don't really like the new version, I feel it is bulky and not real snappy. What is a good distro that you recommend, and like? Why? I know there isn't just one great one and the rest suck...but what do you prefer? Something light weight and snappy is what I am looking for, this computer is a Centrino processor, I did upgrade it to 2GB RAM.

Recommendations?

I would recommend Linux Mint LXDE or Trisquel LXDE .
LXDE based distros are usually faster

I've always like cruchbang, it uses openbox. Though, I don't think it is too active. I've actually been looking into several 'minimal' distros for my netbook, and have come to the conclusion that I'll either install debian, a minimal centos, or try my hand at LFS. o.O

I really like PinguyOS, it is to Mint as Mint is to Ubuntu. Though I'm not sure your computer's limited resources could handle it as well as you'd like, so yeah a netbook remix might be the way to go. Or pick whichever distro you like and load lxde or xfce. After all it is the DE that will bog you down so the distro itself isn't so important. But I'd recommend PinguyOS. More people need to know about how awesome it is so I'm doing my part.

DistroWatch.com: Put the fun back into computing. Use Linux, BSD. you can see the latest releases from various linux distributions. Also, you can search for a specific type that suites your needs.

I'd stick with Mint or Ubuntu for the best out-of-the-box hardware support.

I've tried a big part of the distros out there, but keep coming back to Ubuntu. I'm not to big a fan off v.11, it does seem like it loads to much on your system. My preference runs with v.9 or 10, and build it up from that point. Seems to me that Ubuntu so far has to most support and vast array of programs to choose from. I am a slave to windows right now, but any Linux distro far out wieghs the Gates trap. Once I settle on a distro that fills my needs in computing, windows will be out the window...LOL
