Default Gaming Laptop

My Mother-In-Law is looking to buy a gaming laptop for her 2 youngest sons. Budget is about $750 MAXIMUM. I am relatively PC/Laptop ignorant, so I thought I'd come here for some recommendations. They are more XBOX gamers than PC, but the new Star Wars game coming out in like a month is PC only, from my understanding.

I know that $750 for a gaming laptop does not leave a lot of room for options, but I was wondering if there are any diamonds in the rough.

Thanks for your help

You can buy a decent gaming laptop for that price, I wouldn't expect anything amazing though. They would be much better off buying a desktop than a laptop, since you can get much better specs for the price.

For the price this one is pretty decent.
Newegg.com - ASUS A53 Series A53SV-XE2 Notebook Intel Core i5 2410M(2.30GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory DDR3 1333 750GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M

With a laptop like this you can expect to play some of the more modern games, but you definitely can't expect to play them at full resolution without lag, or some stuttering. But, games should still run fine with a 1024x768 resolution, which is still pretty decent.

Thanks That looks pretty sweet! I have been trying to suggest a desktop, but she wants it portable for vacations(we vacation together and we always drive). Question: Does the resolution make a difference if you were to connect the computer to a TV? I'm guessing it does since it's still up to the computer to "process(terminology?)" the image?

It would make a difference, but as long as the resolution is higher than 720P, you really wouldn't notice a large change with an HDTV. And with that laptop, they would be able to run most games at 1024x768, so it really shouldn't be a problem.

I actually own this laptop.

It is a very slick ass beast if you ask me.

I can play most of my games on High, but I don't play many super high end games either.

It does it's job well.
