Default Micro USB to HDMI Help!!

Hello,

I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 and I wanted to get some help on it. I want to buy a micro usb to HDMI.

My question is: if I plug my Micro USB into my Player and then the HDMI into the TV will my Galaxy Player put out video?

Thanks!

Unfortunately it won't -- I think you need MHL for that which the SG Players do not have.

I did just a little Goggle searching and from what I gather, it appears that the USB end would be the sender (if you will) and the HDMI end will be the receiver. Reason) this is because the HDMI (if leaving a device) is coded in a certain format that the receiving device that is not HDMI or DVI will not be able to convert. So to go from HDMI to some other end besides DVI you would need a converter box.

In that theory, Yes the USB should send the media to your HDMI capable TV. This does not mean I know it works, but just my take on the subject, Good Luck and post if it works, I'm sure a lot of people would be interested.

@alostpacket I found different TV and media forums that claimed their USB device (camcorder mostly) could use a USB to HDMI cable to show video on their TV's. But there were also people who said they couldn't get it to work (Laptops Desktops mostly)

The galaxy tablets and other devices can do it -- From what I understand MHL is basically a micro USB port, but one that can send HDMI data....

But he's talking about a Samsung galaxy Player, which is like their version of an ipod -- just a media player...

I have an MHL to HDMI adapter that I bought for my Rezound from HTCPedia and it does TV out, but don't expect stellar quality. I tried 720p content and the audio kept dropping out. These devices aren't ready for the big screen just yet IMO.

I agree. My friend and I tried it with his evo. High bit rates dont really work to well yet.
