Default Should I get this monitor?

Hey guys, I came across what seems to me like a good deal on a monitor. Here it is.

Problem is: I can't find any reviews for it on internet. Normally I'd stay away from it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt asking first.

If you think you can find a better deal for the price, remember that I live in Canada, so it has to come from websites such as NewEgg.ca. Also, the Futureshop website has free shipping, NewEgg does not.

It's a LED-backlit LCD monitor, 1080p, 23 inches, 2ms gray to gray response time, 20 000 000:1 SmartContrast

I might hook up a console to it someday, so I hope that'll work out well. It doesn't have integrated speakers but I don't care about that. (Maybe it's important for a console?)

Thanks for any advice! Also, should I worry about dead/stuck pixels?

as long as you have an amp, a console wont care so much.

As for the monitor itself, I wont comment as I have no idea.

An amp? Care to elaborate on that?

You really had me there for a second, but that's NewEgg.com, I live in Canada so I said that it needed to be from NewEgg.ca.

As an example, the ASUS VE247H is $150 on NewEgg.com and $180 on NewEgg.ca, including mail-in rebate.

$30 off code EMCNJND87 (code appears to work with many monitors out there btw)

By amp, I'm guessing any sound system would also work... (thought, I'm not current on anything really )

Yes, that's the coupon for NewEgg.com: it's invalid for NewEgg.ca... I live in Canada

20 000 000:1

is that some kinda typo or have I missed some kinda contrast tech revolution?

I guess I really havent kept up on my monitor tech.

Anyways, my advice with monitors is usually the same as Android phones, you'll get what you pay for....

You want a "SuperFlyDopePad with Android OS 3000" or A Galaxy Nexus?

Granted this is super subjective and has tons to do with what you will use it for. But monitors is one component I never buy cheap. Sorry if this is totally not helpful

Well, I try to get the best deals, that's pretty much it. Often, paying more will simply get you more, but good deals do happen.

I got my phone, a LG Optimus One, for $50, brand new in a store, with no contract. It was a while ago and there are much better phones, but they go for $800 without contract. The difference in price isn't justifiable IMO.

About the contrast, that's some kind of lame advertising strategy seen everywhere, it's not the real contrast ratio at all (hence the smiley).

I probably won't get this monitor, I don't buy stuff like that without reading reviews.

Thanks to all of you.

Yes any sound system that has 2xRCA female inputs or at a push, 3.5mm mini-jack female input.

Most audio outputs from consoles (if not all, "Most" being a caveat) are 2xRCA male. This can be converted with a 2xRCA female to 1 x 3.5mm Mini-jack male converter.

Reviews suggest that it's not an impressive monitor. Like most other cheap monitors w/TN panels, it has mediocre colors and awful viewing angles. It has VGA and HDMI inputs, so if your video card only has DVI output then you'll need an adapter. It's hard to tell, but it may have a glossy screen (which some like but others hate).

Some people (My Fiance included) thinks the Glossy screens are a sign of quality, when infact it's the opposite.
