Default 1 click WiFi broadcasting

Looking for a for dummies equipment so my GF can broadcast WiFi with her PC that has high speed.

Has to be simple so I don't have to run over there every day.

simple plug in[usb?], install software, setup a password and it will run on its own and boot with PC on reboot.

simplier the best.

... so you want to turn the ethernet connection into 802.11 right? If so, windows vista could do that, I have never tried it with XP or 7 though, but I imagine the technology is still there, especially for 7.

I haven't heard of an app that does that or anything like that, but if you know your way around batch, you could probably configure something to get it working that way, and it'd be one click.

Now, if you just want a wlan that she can use, you could just pick up a consumer AP or wireless router, pretty cheap, easy to use...

Hope that helps a bit.

I have to agree a wireless router is fairly cheap even a decent Linksys (with secure wifi) can be picked up for about 50 bucks its always on so no loosing wifi when a computer reboots or when an update shuts it down.

someone else pointed this out, guess you don't even need to installed the software just plug it in, though best to set up a password too but sounds simple.

Newegg.com - Rosewill RNX-N150RT IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE802.11n Draft 2 Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates 1 x 10/100M WAN; 4 x 10/100 LAN

she is real funny about things, I can't be needing to fiddle with her computer often.

You can also call her ISP (Internet Service Provider) to help you set it up. She is paying them anyway.

Hey, I was just thinking, I know that cisco has a newer line of product, called Cisco Valet or something like that. I think it just plug in a usb and it will auto configure the PC to match up with the included Wireless router. I have never used this device, but I believe that is how it works.

That should meet these requirements.
