Default titaniumback up for PC, FireFox 12 blows big time

titaniumback up for PC

system restor doesn't work like our beloved android back up programs do that keep data and settings.

Oh Lord id like something like that for my PC.

FireFox 12 blows big time, takes 5-10 clicks of the X to close a tab, and sometimes they will not close at all and I just do a end process to kill the program.

Cause it won't let me go back to FF11 that worked how it should, without losing all my data n settings as it don't allow going back, "bla bla this version is older then the one you got, install closes]

System Restore will only recover system (OS) files, unfortunately. Fine if you end up with a corrupt DLL or suchlike but useless for much else. Acronis TrueImage has got me out of more than one self-dug hole in the past, and does both file-based backup (a la Titanium) and complete disk imaging (similar to Nandroid, Norton Ghost etc).

I can't help with the Firefox issue as v12 doesn't exhibit the same behaviour here. You could try simply uninstalling v12 and then reinstalling v11; I don't think your profile data is deleted.

Correct. When you go to uninstall Firefox 12 (or any version since 3+) you are specifically asked if you want to delete your profile data or not. If you select no, then when you install another version of Firefox, your profile is already there.

@ OP: Couple of points to ponder:

1) try making a new temporary profile and seeing if you have the same problems first - it might be an addon / extension that you have installed that is not playing nicely with firefox causing this issue, rather than Fx 12 itself.

2) Make sure that your plug-ins are all updated as well.

I had version 10 that came out in feb 2012, not 11, I went back to it and the problem is gone.

For the record, MozBackup - Backup tool for Firefox and Thunderbird is AWESOME for transitioning your Firefox data to a new PC, backing it up for a reinstall or just creating a backup just in case. I use it at home and at work, though FF sync takes care of my home stuff anyway...

Right, b/c one (or more) of your addons may work perfectly fine with 10.X but not higher. That's why I said try the profile thing first b/c you really don't know if it is Fx or an addon or something else...

True, forgot about that as well....

I do my profiles manually since I know where they are. I keep them on a separate physical disk so I can always link back to them in the case of a format / reinstall of windows, meaning faster recovery with Fx.

I did more testing before nuking it and it seems FF has teamed up with FB to stop you from closing a window until all their adds load.

It was the one that did it the most, As I can quickly see that nothing new is posted and so I try to close the window, but it won't let you in 12 till all adds have loaded.

I wouldn't have ever seen that, for one I use AdblockPlus on FF, on the other hand I use Chrome for FB, also with ABP.

I use the latest FF on Linux with no problems. Install AdBlock as suggested. I don't use FB but have no trouble closing partially loaded pages on any other sites.

I don't think Firefox 12 is the issue. Because Firefox 12 on my Pentium II is a fair bit faster than that. And that's a PC that struggles with DVD resolution videos and was designed for Windows 95.

Agreed with all. I myself run Firefox Nightly builds (both 32bit and 64bit for Windows) and I have no issues closing FB even while it is loading.

Are you running a beta version of adobe flash player? It might be preventing the close - I remember that the Beta versions started doing funky stuff for me a couple of weeks ago where Firefox would just freeze while Google Play (Market) was loading all of my installed apps - if I killed Flash player Beta, it immediately became responsive again....

I have no issues with FB, but I think it's due to my custom host file. I don't see ads anywhere at all ever. You can also customize the way any site looks from within Firefox by adding local custom CSS files. For example, I could change the background for this site if I wanted to, but this would only show up on my PC since the CSS file would be local. Stylish for Firefox also does this. Check out http://userstyles.org/ if you install Stylish.

I do like Stylish. I pondered making a black Stylish theme for AF but I couldn't be bothered in the end. Love the dark google theme.

Noscript is a good add on too. You can set it to prevent sites running scripts. It can be a bit annoying prompting the first time you visit a site, particularly if its acard payment site that redirects...

When using gnome try using epiphany web browser. Thats what I'm on now. Also if firefox is running slow try to disable ipv6 and see if that helps speed things up for you.
