And man.... I want a 690 (or Titan).... But my 670 seems to handle skyrim at 60fps 2560x1600. (30" dell) But it struggles with The Secret World. I also don't even want to know how bad it will be at crysis 3 heh.

I definitely prefer the single card solution though. Mostly for less hassle. So I guess the 690 > the Titan unless I go SLI with the Titan? I could maybe convince myself to drop $1000 on a card but not $2000

The question is whether I would be better off just sucking it up and getting a second 670 but they seem to have gone UP in price

This is what I have and I swear it was $399 when I got it...
EVGA 04G-P4-2673-KR GeForce GTX 670 Superclocked+ w/Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com
($440 now)
You could try your luck at winning the titan haha just recieved an email from EVGA with this link

Is there a nice way to organize them? I feel like you only see the super die hards organizing their builds to the point that you really don't see much of anything besides parts. I'm going to take some new pictures this weekend.

Sweet.

Although I will have to admit I hate those Facebook "like-to-enter" contests.

It seems like my smartest (cheapest) way to get near-ish 690 performance would be a second 670. I suppose I can try and convince myself that's saving money!

I looked on Ebuyer and the EVGA GTX 670 is quoted at 302, so 2 X 670's = 604.
This week on ebay a guy advertised 2 X GTX 690's with "Buy it Now" prices of 640 and 680, both used but not much. Not surprisingly they sold in a bit less than day.
So you can actually have a 690 - used for not much more than the cost of 2 670's which will of course use a lot more juice.
There was also a GTX 690 sold as "Faulty" (would not pass POST) and it went for 411 - I did consider buying it and chance that either the guy had missed an obvious reason - such as wrong Drivers - or RMA it to ASUS as it would still be under warranty. As is, I am sure the guy who bought it got a bargain.

I do it a little bit at a time, sit back have a bit of a think then do some more. You can get self adhesive plastic brackets which allow you pass plastic zipties though them so thats the back of the case taken care of and you can also replace any white molex or fan connectors with black ones - they are cheap to buy and its really easy to do. One of the biggest boosts to my cable management was getting a fan controller so I could move all the fan connectors from the mobo to the controller - no more wires snaking all over the mobo!

I just did it all in one go. The thinking process occurred when the side panels couldn't fit on, and I had to arrange the cables so that they could.

BTW I think the reason my 670 cost so much was I remembered the price wrong, since I went for the 4GB VRAM model to "future proof"

That is, I remembered the price of a stock 670, but at the last minute I bought a 670 with more RAM and it cost a bit more.

I think I will get a second 670 in the end.

How much :-P?

To be fair, I'd be happy with a decent basic keyboard like a Cherry G85 (I think). Enjoying my Sidewinder X4 although the keys aren't as laptop like as I would've thought

I have the x4 and 100% agree -- it is pretty damn nice for a low/mid range gaming board.

I miss my logitech low profile laptop keys (previous kb) but I dont miss the key blocking!

As a matter of interest, have you been affected by ghosting issues? I don't think I've ever had to hit too many keys at one time...

Nope, well, as far as I understand it Ghosting and keyblocking are essentially the same thing. The X4 was designed to allow 24(32?) keys to be pressed at once.

A good quick test is to hold both shift keys and type

If you have key blocking/ghosting it wont come out correctly. it will look weird like this:

I just checked and it appears to be 192 GB. There is at least one guy on overclock.net who has an EVGA SR2 mobo with dual Xeon CPU's and 128GB RAM

Not exactly:

Memory Limits for Windows Releases (Windows)

Note that most of the RAM limitations placed on newer versions of Windows are arbitrary, and used to force power users to buy more costly Windows products. The NT kernel itself is capable of accessing at least 1 TiB of RAM (up to 4 TiB) on AMD64 machines, and by using PAE memory paging on IA32 machines.

I don't know if there are any hacks to enable cheaper Windows versions to use more RAM (that would violate the EULA ), but in the real world you're more likely to be bound by the limitations of the motherboard. You only have so many slots, each slot can accommodate RAM sticks up to a certain capacity, and there are limits on how much RAM can be fit onto a single stick.

Any of you custom builders had a SLI setup / planning for SLI? Just wondering if getting another 670 somewhere down the line would ever be better than getting a new card.

And also, it's my birthday coming up, so do you recommend me getting anything for my computer?

Thoughts so far are speakers, fans?, CPU cooler.. need an enclosure for my backup drive and maybe something like this hard drive tray, or this one without an SSD slot

I was looking for new speakers a year or so ago and found a lot of good reviews about Logitech Z906 5.1 speakers. After a few drinks I searched online and I was dismayed to find the cheapest price was PC World but then I noticed they were doing a "special deal" for bank holiday Monday with 20% off. I phoned them and they confirmed the deal so I ended up with the speakers for 100 less than the next price. They are beastly powerful (500 watt) so I have never turned them full up.(To #11 as Spinal Tap would say).

For the speakers I was thinking of something like a 20 Logitech set off Amazon. Not got that much to spend ^_^

CPU cooler I was thinking of the CM 212+ and for the fans I have no idea really. I think I may have had this conversation with someone before, but would it actually be worth replacing the rear fan in my case - hoping to make it a bit quieter. I only have 2 fans - a 120mm at the back, and a 200mm at the front.

I'm also using the standard Intel CPU cooler, but I think I'll leave it on unless there's a reason why I should swap it out (temps are pretty fine).

I may be selling my old Logitech Z-10 speakers on ebay in a couple of weeks. They are powerful and have a nice LCD display.

I guess they might go for 40 or so. I gave them to a pal to use on his laptop but he says he can't get any volume out of them but he is a numbty when it comes to PC's so I asked him to bring them back. They'll finance more upgrades to the megalith in my sitting room

Amazon.com: Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System (CA-3602a): Electronics

Hands down the best $30 speakers I've ever bought.

Latest mod is to remove the hard drive cage - carefully, so I can replace if I ever get rid of the case!

Hey thanks, my plan is to have a front radiator which will initially be in the CPU loop but later it will do the GPU.

Would this be worth the money over a standard CM 212?

This thread suggest the 212 is better CORSAIR H40 - Overclockers Forums
Personally I would look on ebay for something like a used Antec H20 920 - I sold mine last November for about 50. The Antec and the Corsair H100 are roughly equivalent. Got to say though I would never go back to an air cooler.

Thats like saying a Skoda will get you from A to B just as well as a Ferrari - true, but not the whole picture

But i guess in both scenarios, the more expensive option has little benefit apart from unneeded? coolness...

See what I did there? :-)

Played devils advocate?
If I run the Unigine Valley benchmark both cores of my GTX 690 run at 80 degrees C and if I play Far Cry 3 they hit about 70 degrees. The top is too hot to touch in other words. Thats without overclocking.

What are some good temps to stay under? So far I've noticed idles of 35ish for the CPU and GPU. In game CPU goes over 50(not are by how much) and GPU reaches 60-70 too.

Depends what your CPU is for what its idle temperature is, but mine (3930k) idles around 28 degrees C and hits about 46 with Far Cry 3.
I have read online that watercooling the GTX 690 can reduce the high of 80 degrees down to about 45.
