HTC One x+ not connecting to BT Home Hub 2
I have had an HTC Desire S for almost two years, and recently upgraded to an HTC One X+.
The old phone has connected wirelessly to my BT home hub 2 since I got it, and still does. The new phone connected fine for about a week, but now fails every time. It finds the home hub, with signal strength excellent, says 'authenticating', then 'obtaining ip address' for several minutes, then gives up saying 'Avoided poor Internet Connection. It then connects successfully to a BT hotspot.
All other wireless devices, two phones and two laptops, still work perfectly. I took the phone back to the O2 shop where I got it, and it connected perfectly to their wireless network. They said they would replace if I insisted, but they believed it was not the phone at fault. I took the phone round to a friend who has a Home Hub 3, and it worked perfectly.
I spent about 45 minutes on the phone to BT in India, and they could not make it work.
The only change I can think of is that a couple of weeks ago my home phone line went down and I was using BT hotspots for a few days. During this period I must have inadvertantly opted in to allow my home hub to be a hotspot, as I received an email thanking me for doing so. I have now opted out, and they say it will take some weeks for my hub to be changed.
Is it possible that the activation of BT FON, or whatever they call it, is responsible for the problem?
Any other suggestions gratefully received.
