Why not just replace the whole machine?

How much is the motherboard?

What CPU are you planning on putting in? See here Sure you can put a core 2 duo in it, but then its hardly worth the upgrade if you're going to put something not that powerful and that old in it. So you're gonna have to go Xeon or core 2 quad or at least core 2 extreme. Not going to be cheap.

You don't want a RAM bottle neck so you'll need to replace what you have if it even fits, with more. These upgrades aren't cheap.

Quick scan on ebay and you can get a desktop with i7 quad and 4GB DDR3 for £380 (no HDD)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Core-i7-Quad-Core-2600K-PC-x4-4GB-DDR3-RAM-No-Hard-Drive-Desktop-/271134933001?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item3 f20e6c009

Bet you can get cheaper too. So if you're getting within £100, I probably wouldnt upgrade your current machine because the longevity will be much less than a new machine.

Thats what i was thinking of doing any ways just buying a full new machine al together, Thank you for your help, The pc that i was gettin was a swap for my T9, But on doing som research and stuff the board in the new machine the FOXCONN one people are saying that its not com with a dual core, Thats all i was wondering if any one has had the same problem. It was goin go cost me around £150-£200 for the upgrades that i had planned, So in the long run its better to just save a few bob and get a whole new machine then. ?

Yes I think so. Socket 775 will support older dual cores.

Basically for £200 you're upgrading to a 5 year old machine. Unless you spend a lot on xeons. If you buy a new machine, it will cost more but will also be 5 years newer than you can get with an upgrade of components...
