Yes that'd be me, as far as I can tell I'm the 1st to post a true zv8 for the community yet I see you gave credit to another user.

Any credits that are given are given to the person I acquired the ROM from, regardless of whom may have uploaded the first one. No offense to you, or the other user; but I can't give credit to you if yours isn't the one that I'm using, yaknow.
I will backtrack my history, and make sure that I'm giving the necessary credit to the individual which assisted me by uploading; but I'm fairly certain that I got it right...i think :P
As per my troubles I finally got some sleep yesterday for the first time this week, and slept (literally) eighteen hours straight which is a rarity for me since i normally sleep about 6 hours a week; and at max 2 hours a night; so yeah...
My Father in Law is coming in to town tomorrow so today the wife and I are going to be going scatter brained trying to make our house look like we don't have a needy child today, but once we get done my time's pretty much open (just not sure how long it'll take) and I'll get some more work done with the roms.
As for the uploads...god only knows. I'm about 75% sure that someone's trying to hack my net (they'll never get in) because it's going slow as shit and even though I haven't been able to trace any stacks (yet) I'm sure I'll find something eventually so I'm keeping it open to see what's going on which is slowing me down.
N Tee Ways...
Sorry for the confusion on the ZV8 issue, and I really hope that you don't think that I'm trying to do you wrong at all as such is not the case I assure you.
I'll check the history (if it's even on my system anymore - damn purging - and see what i can find out for ya.
OR, if you have the original, and can provide me with a copy of the MD5 of that zip you uploaded (not the files within it, but it in itself) then I can compare it for easier validation than going through about 15000 links per day and at least 250 a day of androidforums :P

Look through the first page of your thread. Before you had zv8, I told you I could get it from my cousin and you said that would probably be the only way to have a true zv8 (initially). I got it and uploaded it to dropbox just like you asked so that you could use it and add it to your dropbox and posted a link to it just like you asked. You know I may not be all tech savvy like some of you, but I did go outta my way to get this for the community because I was asked, and I don't even care for zv8 one bit. But whatev man, I guess people go outta their way all the time and get overlooked. I was just hoping for a lil recognition that's all.

Woah dude. I'm not saying it's not yours, or is. I'm just saying that there are multiple ones that were put up, and I'm not sure which one I'm using. The easiest way to find out is to check the MD5's and see which ones match up, but seeing as you think that I'm just "attacking you, and not giving you credit - which is extremely ****ed because quite honestly I have no reason to give someone else credit for something done by someone else unless it's purely by mistake - I guess I'll have to just download the version you have listed, and check the MD5's myself to see which one I'm using on that post.
It's never been anything personal man, and there's no reason to take it that way. IF the one that is up is the one that you linked i'll gladly switch the credits. I've got no reason to lie to people about which one I used. If I wanted to do that wouldn't I give MYSELF credit instead of someone else?
Anyways, I'll download yours here in a bit, and check the info and see which one I'm using and find a way to prove whom it belongs to since this is clearly going to turn into a huge flame war over proving that credits are issued properly.
You'll have the results in a few hours.
As for the whole getting ZV8 from your Cousin situation; yes, at that point there was no way of getting ZV8 and we arranged a way to obtain it from your cousin, then the user who I linked in the credits listed a ZV8 as well, and I am pretty damn sure I used his when I came back and finally got to it because the MOMENT that I click the link to download I open a new tab to get the URL for your username to issue the credits.
There's a small chance that i got the wrong one; and truth be told I'm not entirely sure, but I will find out, and I will adjust the credits if necessary; but I gotta be honest man I'm not too happy with you thinking that I'm just trying to "f*#k you over. I've got no more reason to screw you than I do to give credit to someone that doesn't deserve it. I don't care about anyone on these forums more than any other member here. We're all a collective in my mind - working towards the same goal.

Okay, now that I've had a moment to look it over, I know exactly what happened.
The link you gave for ZV8 had the issue that required us to remove it's link if you remember correctly.
For that reason I Linked Gadget's name, and MEANT to link his ROM as well, but for some reason the edit didn't stick (did the name, and rom link in two different edits as doing multiple edits in that HUGE bbcode editor gets confusing as FUDGE!
I apologize for the issue, and SERIOUSLY apologize for still having the link up as it was removed for reasons :P - Premium CWM.
I DO have a ZV8 that IS based off the one that you gave originally, and I will be uploading it later, so until then the link to ZV8 stock-root has been removed, as well as the mis-credit.
Again, I apologize, and really wish there were something that I could do to let people know that it was your version. Unfortunately there isn't, and due to it having premium CWM I'm going to have to take it down until I get the other version put up.
I hope that you can understand how this happened, and how it was completely unintentional; and not in any manner a means to slander you, or give misleading information to the community.

Not at all dude, you deserve credit for what was yours. That's the whole basis behind me issuing credits to the persons which ROMs I used. It was a simple flaw of my network (for some reason it's not liking android forums lately. Seriously, 90% of the time that i make a post I have to make it multiple times because I end up closing the tab too fast and the server doesn't catch the post in time, or something...I'm not really sure what's going on, but you DO deserve credit for your work; and I'm not trying to deny you of that, or say you're whining, or anything of the sort.

Okay, so small update. My wife just got called into work so until she gets back home I'm not going to be screwing with the phone to do the ROM's because I don't want to miss a call from her with her out. She should be back in a few hours, then I'll get started on all this if I don't crash. IF i do crash, I'll have to be awake in a few hours anyways; because her Dad's coming over, and sleeping with company over = freaking stupid.

So i downloaded and installed the stripped ZV9 ROM, and all is working well..... BUT, i keep getting the "Google Talk Authentication Failed" error, which doesnt permit me to download anything from the Google Playstore. I was wondering if that was only me, in which case i would reflash, i dont mind that, but haha if theres an easier fix, pleasseeee, i would really appreciate it ! I have tried deleting the Cache of the Google Playstore app and rebooting the phone, and it worked... temporarily. I got the error again after a few hours. I even tried deleting the file "accounts.db" in data/system/, rebooted, re-entered my google account, and again it worked.... temporarily, haha. Again, i dont mind flashing this same rom again or even any of the other ones, i just would like to find out if there is anyway to fix this issue with simple steps before moving on to the big leagues :P Thank you so much in advance

One of the zva that I d/ld (can't remember which one. I believe it was the rooted non stripped one) and installed had a small glitch, the audio presets I had (ie ringtones/notifications ect.) I noticed would randomly reset to other audio files on my sd. So I just flashed back to my zv9. Anyone else have this prob or know of a way to fix this issue?

umm when restoring, no need to wipe jack as it gets done in the restore process.
And wiping battery stats has been debunked, its just a myth.

Then you need to get proper antivirus, or learn how to protect your system.
If your downloads are constantly becoming corrupt then it's because something internally on your system, or possibly your home network is attempting to inject trojans, spyware, etc. into your downloads.
There's really not ANY other logical reason except shitty internet, bad hosting (which isn't the issue) or your hard drives, or RAM are bad. Time to start testing your stuff.

Try booting into cwm restore, and perform a full wipe (dalvik, and user cache)
That should fix the issue as it'll "authenticate to your phone."
It's an issue with how I removed my account because I'm using my active phone to make these, and if someone txts me a shitload, I'll do a quick wipe of data, and I think that it's just not wiping everything right.
anyways, that should fix it.
If not, let me know, and I'll see what i can figure out.

Yeah, apparently I've got like the ONLY connect in the world that doesn't stay on the same "visually" software revision.
All I do when I restore a different version is use ROM Manager to boot into recovery, the wipe all data, battery stats, dalvik and cache wipe. - In that order.
Then I do the recovery, and reboot into the ROM. Once it loads, I restart instantly after the media scanner finishes; and then reboot into the ROM with no problems what so ever.
I'm not sure what's going on with mine, but as far as I know for others it's just a visual issue; not a physical one.

When you say "do the recovery" you do mean flash the new rom from the backups section in cwm, right? Thanks for you're time and hardwork on this its been great learning from you and everyone else on this forum.
For some reason when i get to the part of trying to install the zip/program- ZVA- rooted ( whatever its called). Well its just aborts it... so am i doing something wrong?
I have an issue with your stocks. it seems like i restore the stock rom ( rooted zva and zv9) great. but when it comes to starting the rom it keeps going into this restarting loop. it doesn't restart the whole phone but yet restart the rom over and over on the boot animation processes.

I'll resume working on them once I get my other connect from LG, but I'm letting you know now I requested an Esteem from them because I'm sick and tired of all the problems that I've had with my connects (overheating, dead pixels, button failures, etc.)
I am not sure whether they'll give me one, we'll just have to wait and see what they do. Odds are they'll give me some refurb POS that I'll have issues with too, but I'm not quite sure.
appreciate all the hard work man. i love messin' with little gadgets... i think i'll go for the stripped first. Anybody know if it gets rid of Rhapsody? Came free with my service because of the plan i have. Didn't say it was removed on the list so i figured i'd ask. Other than that... Thanks again.

Did you try making the folder yourself lol. Using a file manager of your choice, go to the root of your SD card, create a folder named clockworkmod, go in the new folder, make another folder named backup.
Or, boot into cwm and make a backup. Reboot phone. The folder will automagically appear, along with your backup, of which you can delete since you don't actually need the backup.

So I acquired an LG connect last night for dirt cheap $20. It was already rooted which was cool. He removed the mem card. I went to factory restore to remove certain apps and all his google accounts and BOOM it boots into CWM. So my question is does anyone have a stock rom (preferably rooted/debloated) for the ZV8? I dont see it anywhere. Can I use the one from the ZV9?

Use the LG Mobile software update tool, that will update you to ZVA and has a fix for the overheat/battery comsumption problem. Don't bother with the stock links here, they don't work for sh*t. I also recommend, if you are going to flash a custom ROM to use the Broken Out Connect. If you use the Black Plague instead, DO NOT use NAND restore to roll your phone back, YOU WILL BRICK IT

I have an updated link to zva on the second page but it sounds like you have it figured out already.
I have zva, broken out, black plague and rom#2 on my backup folder and have restored various ones from black plague without ever having any problems. Do you wipe everything before restoring?

Why would you want ZV9? And to answer your question, it's a risk. I can't flash any of the packages that are actually there. The only one I got to download is the CWM-MS840ZVA rooted, and it's another MD5 checksum error.

Honestly i am unsure of what i want, ive used cooked ROMS and they all are buggy (Black Plague and No2). So i would like to use a Stock ROM thats just stripped and debloated.
Ive looked into what these software versions are (zv8,zv9 and zva) but no one seems to state what they are, how they work and how they effect me.

It seems the issue with the devs that write the code is they do not own the phone they are writing the code for. So they are writing blind and with only feedback from us users... though when i or someone else gives feedback they tend not to respond to the issue. I know alot of donated funds for a good cooked ROM, but i see no point to donate when its a broken product.
It would be nice if OP would get the ZVA version up of this so alot of us can stop messing with half-cooked roms. As what came on the MetroPCS Connects stock have alot of bloat that needs to be removed in a special way, cannot just be uninstalled.. and who knows what Carrier-IQ type of apps are installed from Metro that cannot just be uninstalled.

Dirt, you're better off using LG Updater tool in D/L mode and letting it re-install ZVA. ZV8 and ZV9 had issues with stock battery overheating and a couple of bugs. As far as I know (and have read here in the Connect forums), there are no pros to having 8 or 9 over A, only cons. I have mentioned somewhere that pretty much all of the links here are dead or have MD5 mismatches and still, after months, nobody has fixed them.
Just go stock ZVA, re-root with ChiWen's exploit and delete the unwanted battery-sucking MetroPCS apps. I've found this works best for me over any custom ROM here, my Connect couldn't be any happier
Device(s): LG Spirit Rooted ROM: Katana,

Hello Spec2nirvash,
Thank you for taking the time to explain that, i have rebooted in CWM and restored my stock ROM when i bought my phone on black friday with the stock OS. Would the LG Update tool still be helpful to me? I will look into re-rooting my phone and removing the bloat...
