Here we have an area for ROM developers to talk, and post their creations in their own sub-forums. In which they have near complete control over.
Should a member want a sub-forum of their own for ROMs, they need only let me know and show that they have distributed a few ROMs already - gaining a bit of a following.
Once created they will be directed to a thread in a separate forum explaining what rights and options they have, and can use that thread and the forum it is in to discuss amongst themselves.
The meat of the thread follows: (however please actually go to the thread for more details, and to discuss, devs!)
Alright, the ROM developer sub-forums are now ready for use! You should see them listed on the main page - under the Phones Category. There is a sticky in the "Custom ROMs" section with a brief explanation, but here is what you now can do in your forums.
You each have rights within your sub-forum to do the following:
Edit posts
Delete posts
Open and Close threads
Edit thread titles
Stick, Merge, Split threads
Move threads out of your forum to a more suitable area
Prune threads out of your forum
You cannot:
Ban users
View IP address,
...etc.
Options you have:
You may set it so that only you can post in the forum, threads or posts.
You may set it so that only you can create threads, but all can reply.
You can leave it open for all to make threads and reply (requests, etc)
You can choose to enable prefixes, (like classifieds) for phone names or whatever. (ex: BH2, Droid)
Just let me know what you want for your options and I'll make the changes for you. By default, no prefixes - free for all to post in.
You still need to host your ROMs wherever you currently are - we are not providing the storage and delivery or the ROMs.
You also have this forum to post in, which only ROM Devs have access to. You are encouraged to use these forums completely and preferably only for your ROM work/announcing - but it would be okay to post in a phone forum when a new ROM is released. Please though, do try to encourage users who follow your work to start to look in your forum instead - or subscribe to it.
Members are encouraged to follow their favorite devs by monitoring these forums, or subscribing to them - rather than waiting in the phone forums for announcements of releases.
