If i remeber correctly when ZVB came out (with the new radio img) after you flashed it and booted the rom. You had to reboot back into recovery and wipe cache in order for the market to work.
No idea if this had been posted already (didnt read all the posts) so just throwing that out there.

oh ok...makes sense now for my market not working even though I cleared cache and dalvik cache after flashing. Thanks, Dots :]

Whoa Sorry about the Gender mix up!!
Just saw the Avatar and assumed.
Naw its cool I am a Design Draftsman.
I engineer things but dont have the degree.
Where you going to school?
What engineering you going for? Mechanical, Civil, Architechural (boy I bet I mispelled that)

so'k...my fault...maybe I should put it in my sig, but then maybe not lol (think I might change my avatar, though)...Electrical Engineer at Clemson University (in SC). Can't code worth a crap lol.

Nice Avatar.... yes that helps. LOL
Electrical huh.
Yeah electrical is voodoo to me.
I am a mechanical guy. Gear Head type. I like things that go Vroom Vroom
Rebuilding Engines is my specialty.
However I work here in Houston The Good ole OIL patch.
You know the people that Obama is trying to destroy. Yeah thats us.
So Did you ever get the new Radio to update Properly?
I have a new cool way to take the update and all future updates as well.
I will be posting it in the near future.
Its a way to do it without a computer using Drellisdees tools.
So...knowing how to read and all...I'm not seeing (reading) anything positive that comes from this radio d/l.
I guess I'll just wait till I see some positive reviews. ..don't seem worth all the problems. ..yet; )
Still...DEF. worth a, "thanks" ..for the work and for sharing.
Anymore goodness from this radio update?
Probably a matter of opinion but what da hay.....is it worth going through all those fun steps to go back to stock just to get the complete ota update....or is this really all that's needed...?
This is all thats needed. unless you absolutely NEED it to be reflected in the about phone panel i get much better signal with this. 1 bar in my room now 3-4 bars consistent

Yeah...they say it's one of the hardest engineering majors (I think chemical is harder), but that's because you have to pretty much imagine the electrons since they're too small to see. It's really just a lot of math (or at least so far it has been which I love *cough cough* my username :] )
I did consider mechanical engineering when I had to pick a specialization, I don't know why, but EE just seemed more for me
On topic :] :
Yes...Radio works fine (and so does my market)...I personally haven't noticed much (if any) of a difference in signal, but I think that's because where I am, we always tend to have good Verizon signal
Updated 1st post with information to fix market issues after flash.
Off-Topic: Thats great math-uhhh-saurus. im a computer information systems major. programming AND hardware. alot of math for me as well but i love it ha ha.
off-topic again: do you believe people can change?

ugh, what a bitch.
cool!...yeah...I suck at programming (only classes I've taken are in MatLab and C++)...hopefully I can avoid it when I get out of college I really just prefer the hardware part...it's so sad though :[ I've almost completed all of my required math courses...might try and take a few more and get a minor in it
yes, but I'm confused as to where this question came from lol
Just someone pissed me off. She wronged me a long time ago i forgave her...later on i wronged her by accident.....and thought its been a year and a half she still wont talk to me/ accept my apology. i mean i take responsibility for my actions and all but yeah... she used to be one of my best friends. just wanted to patch things up. we had a great bond. oh well.
BACK ON TOPIC NOW.......its coming.....sooner than expected....
I followed the instructions outlined by death2all110. Initially was able to load back into android and raptor v.01. Market did not work, as expected. went back to recovery and cleared caches again. Got stuck in a boot loop at the "Android" boot. Tried clearing caches again, no go. Had to reflash the raptor ROM to fix. still says MVB radio, not sure if it updated or not.

Are you getting a better signal because the bar graph say so or are you actually getting better reception (signal strength, better coverage, etc)?
Is the increase in number of bars showing up in better/more coverage and higher data bandwidth?

Been lurking on these forums for quite a bit, but after all the revelations from Math, death, and others, I thought I would chime in...
I'm an EE. Currently working in a big joint venture (google fab club). If I was Math, I would change my major right away... EE is a dying science. Everything is going offshore! I work with software and hardware (advanced semiconductors). There are fewer people in the lab everyday. And I find myself doing overseas telecons more and more.
BTW... ironic really... I write software and use it to test and debug chips. These 'radio' chips (in 2 years time) will go into a certain brand of phone that keeps the doctor away. LOL.

Death a few things here that might give issues. When flashed via recovery the radio.img is copied to /cache and then flashed from there so you DO NOT want to wipe after flash that might be why the version isn't updating as you are wiping it before its flashed. The radio is flashed after the reboot out of recovery. You reboot fully and then you can go back to recovery and wipe cache. Dalvik cache doesn't matter at all here. Just a warning a bad radio flash or a botched one will 100% irreverasably brick your phone and is the single most dangerous thing you can do to it. Triple check your md5sum before flashing and consider is it worth the risk if it is i suggest doing the method below instead of via recovery. Radios flashed from optimus recoveries I have 1 report of bricking but am unsure if user error caused it.
The preferred and safest way to flash a radio is via fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash radio (radio.img name here)

Good to know, thanks dre.
Off topic - I was chatting with Trident and he was saying that the preferred governor for the new kernel is ondemand. Why ondemand and not interactive? Just curious.

I'm not really sure that the radio caused it. I did a factory reset, and after i set everything back up.... about 15 messages hit. I don't know what the crap it's doing. But it's working again.
Quick Question...my mom's Ally has been bugging her to update. I rooted it for her and installed Velocity. Will the OTA update install this radio? Will it screw up root or anything with the custom ROM? Is it recommended to ignore the update and manually flash this radio? Will the OTA Notification go away after a manual flash of this?
Well that was plural not singular...sorry. Questions.

The OTA update will fail during installation if you're running a custom ROM.
Manually flash the radio.
The OTA notification will stop after you accept the push, again the installation will fail and Velocity will boot again, completely unchanged.

I should note, push the update, THEN flash the radio after the update has failed and is no longer bugging you. I'm almost positive the installation will fail before it begins to write anything but do it just to be sure.
Do me a solid and hit the 'Thanks' button if I helped you out.

I have a question, just to be sure i don't brick my phone....I recently reflashed to v6, then the recovery image, updated all the way to zvc...i then flashed velocity 0.3, my baseband shows mvb, and the update tried to install(failed of course). Should I not flash this because it's likely a reporting error? or does the velocity rom actually flash the mvb baseband and i have to flash the mvc?

Reason: typed z instead of m

Actually this command does not work on the ally. otherwise i would have done that. ive tried it numerous times

If you updated all the way to ZVC then you have the new radio. It is a reporting error, do not flash it again.
Just wanted to check in and see if there has been any more work done with this new radio. I'd like to flash it, but I'd rather wait n see if its going to be possible to flash it AND have it display correctly.
Thanks
IT WILL NOT REPORT CORRECTLY. The ally has this bug that will not report it unless it was applied via OTA. I'm sorry but it will never report unless it was applied OTA but you do get the radio. And Better signal.

I too went to school for Engineering in SC, was Electronics Engineering, and in Greenville, but not much of a difference? lol
How do we know if we have this update on a custom rom already so we dont go and do it again?
