ATTENTION: MARKET WILL STILL BE BROKEN AFTER CLEARING CACHES AFTER FLASHING SORRY BUT THIS IS HOW IT WORKS. AFTER YOU GET BACK INTO ANDROID TURN OFF. BOOT INTO RECOVERY AND CLEAR CACHES AGAIN. REBOOT. MARKET SHOULD NOW WORK! LOOKING INTO AS TO WHY THIS IS BUT BEEN PREOCCUPIED....WITH "SOMETHING"
This is the latest radio that is included in the VS740ZVC Update.
This is ONLY for users of custom roms (Raptor, Velocity, etc...)
DO NOT FLASH IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE UPDATE! ONLY FLASH THIS ONCE.
It is possible to brick your phone by flashing a new radio.
Flash this like you would a kernel, Wipe Dalvik-Cache and Cache,
DO NOT WIPE DATA.
This package is signed and can be flashed on its own via recovery without a rom or kernel.
NOTICE: If market does not work reboot to recovery and wipe caches
The new radio may not be reflected in the about phone panel, this is normal. There is a bug in the LG Ally that prevents this change from being shown if it was not applied OTA with stock recovery.

I flashed it, but did not wipe dalvik or cache after. (this should not effect the result, I don't think...)
I restarted and the blue LED did not flash but it started normally.
I restarted again and the blue LED flashed twice.
In "About" the baseband still appears not to have updated.
My market won't download apps. (I know this is a symptom of the flash and not wiping the dalvik or cache.)
Does this mean it worked?

Reboot into recovery wipe dalvik and cache market should work.
I know a lot of people have a hard time reading on here so I'm going to super size it.
ONLY INSTALL IF YOU ARE RUNNING A CUSTOM ROM!
MAKE SURE TO WIPE CACHE AND DALVIK CACHE! DO NOT WIPE DATA!
ONLY FLASH THIS ZIP ONCE OR YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE!

Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't. If the package flashed then you have the new radio.
I have no problem reading im running raptor.. I flashed it just fine... even though it still running vs740mvb. but as long as im getting a better signal im fine..
Dumb Question: I'm running stock rom but a non-stock recovery and kernal. The update would not install OTA. Can I flash this, or no? I read the disclaimer, but I'm not sure if that includes me or not. Thanks as always!

If I flash this radio and the new verision of Velocity or Raptor comes out, do I have to reflash this radio img, if I flash the new ROM or is this a permanent radio?

I know that, I'm asking if it flashed correctly. I don't want to brick my phone for flashing it again if it already worked. If About says that I still have MVB baseband, did it update? Thanks for the response though.

I see, so if my market does not work, is this proof that the flash worked.
The big question: How can I know for sure if it did flash?
Edit x2: I don't mean to sound like a noob, I just want to be extra careful with my phone. The flash didn't seem to work right. I want to reflash it if it failed, but how can I know if it failed or worked?

Bottom line? You won't know if it failed or was a success unless you remember what the update said when you flashed it.
If the market isn't working then you didn't do something right. Did you clear cache and dalvik cache?
About phone>baseband will not reflect changes! If led flashes blue it worked. If recovery says to reboot to complete. It flashed ok. If you didnt clear caches the market will not work. The led will not always flash

Mine says the same thing as Mitchell's, my light did not flash, my market was broken until I cleared Cache and Dalvik Cache again (even though I did clear it before and after)... we're all getting similar results.
I would say that if your phone is generally working the way you want, and you're not having major connectivity issues, don't feel like you have to flash this radio update. My daddy always said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

FYI, feeling brave and daring, I decided to flash the previous Radio image (VZB) back on my phone. The Baseband version reported afterward still says VS740Mv7.5210.1013, and I don't think it's ever said anything but that as far as I can recall.
I was wondering... if I actually cared about this, would it update anything if I:
1. Flashed everything back to stock and allowed all the updates including this one to install, then
2. Flashed custom recovery again
3. Flashed Raptor again.
I reverted back to stock and received the updates successfully. When I re-rooted and flashed Velocity .3 again, my baseband version went back to VS740MVB.5210.1015 although my SW is still showing ZVC. The information isn't always displayed correctly as other members have stated.
Bottom line? You won't know if it failed or was a success unless you remember what the update said when you flashed it.
If the market isn't working then you didn't do something right. Did you clear cache and dalvik cache?
It said something like: Writing Radio.img just before it rebooted.
Only on the second reboot did the blue light flash though.

I suppose it worked then. I was cautious because this didn't work quite like the other times I've flashed the baseband.
Usually I would press reboot and it would stay at the verizon logo with the blue light flashing for about 10-30 seconds, and would proceed to boot. This just seemed to be abnormal so I assumed something was wrong.
^ Is what I just described what should have happened?

Alright - my curiosity got the better of me so I decided to go back to stock to get all the updates. I went all the way back to 6, restored the stock recovery and was able to install all of the updates including the current one. I verified that both my baseband and my software version confirmed that ZVC was installed properly.
However, upon reinstalling Raptor, the baseband version went back to VS740MV7.5210.1013 and the SW version stayed at VS740ZVC. I have to question whether the Baseband change really sticks and the info is just reported wrong, or if it is getting reverted. Not sure how you could prove it one way or the other. Oh well, it was a fun project to do in the watches of the night.
Hmm ill open raptor up and check. it may be included in raptor? because V6 is VS740MV5.5010.1012 and i cant remember what v8 is but vb is vs740mvb.5210.1015

HA ah its a Level 22 Tauren Warrior get it right! lmao
Nice!! ROFL
Alright but more on topic.
Seeing as I went back to stock and took the update it at that time had a baseband of MVC what ever. Now I flashed my Nandroid back afterwards and the SW stayed at ZVC but the Baseband went back to MVB what ever.
Its my understanding that I should NOT run the zip because I already have the updated Radio despite what it says on the Baseband.

Is this correct?
Yes, it's a reporting error, don't flash it again. Doing so can/will brick your phone.

I see no difference one way or another. Of course, it's hard to tell because one can't even truly determine the actual version of the baseband when you change ROMs.

hmmm...I cleared my cache and dalvik cache before AND after flashing this and my market stopped working. Couldn't figure it out. Finally last night before going to bed, I cleared my cache and dalvik cache again and it works perfectly. :]
