can you flash cm7 over miui?

im running miui but thinking about trying cm7 instead. i know miui is cm based but i tried to flash cm7 over miui before and it failed. i got the logo with the spinning circle thing but it wouldnt go any further. do i have to flash back to stock again or can i jump a few steps. also cwm which is usually included in miui seems to have stopped working as i cant access it in the bootmenu.

on MIUI you must flash back to stock every time.

i was forced into that last night anyway, so now running stock already rooted and overclocked and using 360 launcher. i tried installing 2ndinit 2.0 again and it just sent me into a bootloop. again. is anyone else having trouble with the 2.0 version. ive just done a search and found 1.4.2 works the best. i have now downloaded that. hopefully this will work.

I keep swapping between miui and cm7 without flashing back to the stock rom!

just boot into cwm, clear cache, dalvik cache then format the data partition.
select zip from sdcard and done!
If it doesn't work the first time, then follow the same procedure again.
