Default Is anyone else planning to get this?

I do not have a smartphone/iPhone/android right now. I am going to be getting a new phone from AT&T through the "Customer Retention Group" very soon.

My current Samsung dumb phone is garbage, and I need a good/quality phone during the summer to keep in touch with family during everyones travel.

I know this is not a top of the line phone, nor does it have a decent version of Android(1.6 or later for voice guidance, etc).

Now for my questions:
1) Do you think this phone will be better supported by the community than the Backflip? i.e. Rooted in a reasonable timeframe?

2) Would you get this or the Backflip, if you HAD to get a new phone by June 15, and you could not afford/justify a Nexus1?

3) Do you think there is any chance AT&T could get their act together and get the HTC phone out by June 15? Do you think it will be a Legend/Desire quality phone, or another craptastic low/mid range Android version?

Thanks for reading my little book, looking forward to any ideas/suggestions.
Zack

It's hard to know. AT&T is being so incredibly quiet on the phone front right now. The only thing we know for sure is that another iPhone is coming as is the Palm Pre Plus(which I'd take over the Dell Aero unless you're wanting lots of Apps).

There is a slim possibility that we could have the Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Legend by then though.

Yeah, Apps is huge selling point for me, and also Android's next few OS' are going to work on that phone for awhile.

While I expect Palm/HP to try to support their users for awhile, HP bought Palm for FUTURE products, so could easily shortchange the current users/hardware.

Hmm I wonder if this phone will even ever see the light of day.
According to Google, it is a Legacy device before it launches.

The Dell Aero will prove to be AT&T's second Android powered handset and while it isn't technically Dell's first Android phone, it is nearly identical to the Dell Mini 3i which WAS the manufacturer's first Android Phone (previou... Read More
