Angry Dell Streak Screen Replacement £171!

For all of you who like me has a nice shiny new Dell Streak with a broken screen, after weeks and much searching I have finally found one....... for £171 supply only, online!!!

I bought my Streak for £250 second hand and frankly £171 makes repairing my phone a waste of time and money. A great paper weight it makes!

Just as a little addition to the Gorilla Glass debate and the videos on Youtube of the "tests" I think an important point has been missed. The glass will withstand blows from sharp objects and things with a small cross sectional area but doesn't stand up very well to drops where the force is dissipated across the surface of the glass and therefore it shatters or cracks.

It has been misleading for reviewers to describe the glass as almost "unbreakable". It may be true that Gorilla Glass is tough enough to withstand scratching and sharp point impact but wide area force will smash it. Like someone said already, just don't drop your phone. I'll not be repairing or replacing my Streak. The phone is lovely, functional and impressive but too big for everyday use of putting it in and out of a pocket or bag: the large size increases the chance of dropping it. Its a HTC Desire for my next phone methinks.

I really think people need to think about this. I know that the normal mindset is that you cant always be absolutely certain that you won't drop your gadgets but seriously, if you pay $550 or even the £250 that jack9012 did, you should do everything you can to keep it safe. I am so gentle with my streak that people find it annoying. I just can't get over the fact that people can spend this much money on something and then drop it and complain about the cost to repair. I do understand the annoyance of not being able to fix it at all though which seemed to be the original problem.
I know that Otterbox sells cases for the Streak and seeing what my wifes iPhone went through from my 2 year old son throwing it around while in an Otterbox case I will be purchasing one shortly.
I don't see any problems with my extremely scratch resistance Gorilla Glass and actually I love it. Also I have seen a few people claiming they have only dropped it 1 foot from the ground onto carpet and watched it shatter and I call BS. I want to see some video of that.

This is the very reason why I pay a bit extra (£10 more) per month for insurance which covers accidental damage. If I never, I'm not sure I would want to pay £170 just to replace the screen.
