This Really Bugs me!!! Can't find ANY Dell Streak 5 Accessories locally!!!
I've tried to find a leather case, faceplate of any kind, Touch-Screen Stylus at:
4 Best Buys
4 Malls
10 AT&T dealers/Stores
in the Seattle / Tacoma area and not one of them have anything for the Dell Streak 5! Not one!
None of the stores had a good explanation... just a lot of excuses.
The guy who sold me the Streak basically lied to me saying, "sure they will have some accessories within a week." He also said that Foyo 2.2 was coming any day. That was a month ago. He just wanted to make a sale.

What's up with all that???

Now I'm forced to buy online...

None of the local shops in the UK sold any streak cases either.
Even the O2 shop where they had exclusivity on the Streak until recently
Had to order online as well.
Then i found That Tesco were selling Streak accessories really cheap in store.
Home dock £17
Car Kit £22
Leather wallet case £15
Soft Case £10
Battery £12
All genuine Dell and half the price from Dell direct.

As the Streak didn't take off all that well over here and with some stores selling them unlocked & Offline (No contract) for £199 New & sealed i can see soon that vendors will want to sell off any Streak stock ASAP

That's really too bad as the Streak is a fabulous phone. I gave up a iPhone4 for this and really like it. However, look at all the local stuff you can get for the iPhone in all the stores! One of the stores I went to said it was Dell fault as they restricted the sales of accessories so that you were forced to order from them. If so, that is really STUPID and greedy!!!

Even Bargain Basement £1 shops in the UK sell iPhone This & iPhone that.
It really bugs me as finding decent accessories for my my Streak & Desire we are restricted to either Ebay or other online stores.
I like to try my phone with them first to make sure they will be OK.

I will never buy an iSlut Cellular prostitution if you ask me. But every where seems to stock iPhone stuff.

Even Creative who were making MP3 players before Steve Jobs even knew what MP3 stood for, make docks for iPods but none for their own players for Christ sake.
Just ignore my little rant!

Yeah loving my streak as well
I use my desire as a phone but my Streak has got a 3g sim with 5Gig a month data allowance so i use it mainly for data and as a media player
Its a shame the HDMI on the home/AV Dock will not play videos since the 2.2 update but hopefully when 2.3 is released they can do something with the HDMI output.

i know the best buy by me has the otterbox cases and an adapter that can be used to charge the phone in the car but there really arent many out there period much less in stores.

I would have been surprised if you had found Dell Streak anything at any of the places you mentioned. I doubt there are enough Streaks out there for them to justify carrying any accessories. Shoot, it takes a whole month to even get a Streak from Dell.

I never even looked locally. I figure most things can be had on the net and in many cases cheaper, so why bother looking at a brick and motar store. Although, I really don't have any accessories to speak of, I got a case for $6 from ebay and that is it. I charge either via my computer USB plug or the home plug. I also have a inverter the I use for my Christmas lights in my car (VW bug), that also works for the wall plug in my car. Can't really think of anything I need

1. I prefer local as I can see it first hand before buying.
2. I like to support the local stores first before online. This is why many local stores go out of business... people buying online instead of local.

I found a a great Commuter style OtterBox on ebay - only cost me $27 inc shipping - if you don't have one, find one, it will make you feel way more secure when using your Streak

Hi!! I've had the same problem here in South Carolina with finding accessories locally. So far the only cases I've found in our Best Buy are the Otter Series...

Anyway, did you ever get your phone updated? When I first bought my phone it didn't come with the update either, but I contacted Dell and they sent me a link to the update.

If you use your phone's browser to view the following link, it should allow to download automatically. Be sure to do a backup & restore first:

Hi people,

I was lost but now I'm found (here) again ... !

Like most others ... and everyone who lives out in the sticks ... I use [URL="http://www.fommy.com"] ... and ... http://www.mobilefun.co.uk ... for my Streak 5 accessories.

The leather case ( which fits into my jacket pockets and my briefcase ALWAYS gets a ... Wow, what's that !! ... when I open it on any public transport (or in a pub); and I have a great multi position stand and 'bean bag' for when I'm usung the Streak as my SatNav.

Give Fommy a try ... but get someone else to hold onto your wallet !!

BTW ... one day I found that Android 2.2.2 had landed. It works great and the only downside I've noticed is that the 3 lighted touch buttons (Back, Menu and Home) do not stay lit since 2.2.2 arrived. Not a big problem really.

With too much time on my hands - I'm an avid 'experimenter' with apps and do a lot of playing with photo, weather, news and email ... if you haven't tried Taptu (see the Android Market for personal news threads) - I strongly recommend it.

Any luck finding accessories locally? Lately it has gotten worst... you have to get accessories from HK now. I'm trying to find a red faceplate housing in the USA and can't.

Not many accessories to start with, and dell.com doesnt have much either.

Problem is... you have to pretty much order from HK. I won't order out of the states.

Too bad we cannot ordr from tbe manufacturers on web site... Very little Streak accessories. Looks like Samsung's picking up where Dell stupidly drops the golden egg..

Well, since I can't find a Dell Streak5 housing anywhere in the USA, I went ahead and took mine apart and painted it. About three days, counting taking it apart, four coats each of primer, base paint and top coat, plus two hours drying time. We shouldn't be stuck with resorting to this. I will NEVER buy a DELL again no matter how good it sounds. They cooked their goose with me and family and friends.

I'm making a separate post with pictures on this.
