Hi

I was blackberry user for years and few days back got Dell Streak 5 with Android 2.2

The area visible while typing email/ sms is too small. Is there a way/ app which can help in increasing this area.

It is too difficult while typing emails as hardly 2 lines are visible of what we type.

The text zone is "what's left when the keyboard is apparent." You might try other keyboards -- BetterKeyboard takes less space, manages multiple languages, and "looks ahead" quite well.
