Default Dell streak 5 reboot

How to reboot the dell streak 5. I just want to shut it down and start it again to that it removes all the running applications.

Thanks

Hi Merchant,
Have you tried just removing the battery and restarting the phone? Or are you talking about resetting your factory settings?

You may want to get the Android Advanced Task Manager app from the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.infolife.taskmanager
It's free and it allows you to stop those running apps that tend to slow down your phone and drain the battery.

I don't like the idea of removing the battery in order to restart. In iPhone you can hold onto the power button and then swipe to shutdown. Wondering if there is something like that

I was able to reboot by holding down the camera button then the power button for a few seconds and the screen went blank. holding the power button for a few seconds came back with the dell logo.

There are several apps that will run in the background no matter what you do (unless you root your device)

The best way I know to combat that is to use systempanel lite from market. It will show you how much CPU(battery) and RAM a certain app is actually using, plus it gives you the option to kill it (though some apps will just start themselves right back up, see above in bold). Generally apps that you have opened yourself can be 'killed' and everything else can not.

It is my opinion that task killers do more harm then good.

Just my 2 cents though

well if you hold the power button and select power off.. that tends to do the same thing as turning off the iphone. also unlike the ifail removing the battery is a good way to reset your phones and a lot of companies suggest that to reset it. also the dell streak automatically powers down as soon as you remove the battery door. if you want to stop stupid apps from running and draining your memory and battery, download supertaskkiller and disable what you do not use.
