I got my Streak about 2 months ago, mainly because the TFT display is unmatched in bright sunlight*. I stumbled upon the speech to text ability, and was absolutely STUNNED by how well it worked. Then one day about 2 weeks ago, it started typing gibberish. I thought maybe it was background noise, so I started to type my message, only to see that my keyboard had been re-arranged. I've spend a couple hours looking at settiungs... to no avail.
Anyone have a similar experience and solution (other than a factory reset!).

Need a little more info...

1) are you rooted
2) did you check to see if any updates
3) custom ROM? If so which one
4) if you are on stock ROM, which version?

1) I bought it on Ebay, right after Dell quit selling them. The Ebay ad said it was 'rooted' but I haven't got much of a clue as to what that means.
2) I just checked, and it's up to date
3) and 4) I think it's stock, but I don't know how to check.

Is your keyboard set to a different language? On almost all my keyboards it's a long press on the bottom left "?123" key unless you specifically have a key that has dial icon or language icon/label.

Nope. It's set to American English. All the letters are there, no weird stuff with little dots or backwards looking letters, but the top row is:

Seems like you're using the French keyboard.

... and the gibberish it types when I speak looks kinda' French too, but every reference to language in both the keyboard and speach settings is set to 'US English'.
I'm about at the point where I'm going to save off anything I care about and see if a 'factory reset' will get it back to the way it was.

Switch to a different keyboard. Is it french also?

Boy do I feel dumb. There IS a symbol on the 'keyboard', to the lef of the spacebar, and to the right of the 'swype' symbol. It looks like a little globe, and when it has the letters FR above it, guess what happens!? Of course, I figured this out AFTER blowing away all (3 or 4) of my apps.
No great loss really, it took me about 10 minutes to re-load.
