Default So whose getting one tomorrow?

So the Dell streak is out here in England tomorrow. Im undecided as to whether I want one yet but who else here is going to look at one or to get one tomorrow?

Im undecided because as of yet theres still no concrete price or pricing plan. Plus I want to touch one to see how I like the overall size and pocketability. I also want to see how good/bad its android 1.6 version is.

All the usual sites are now reporting it will be free with contract on O2, copied from CNNTech:

"Dell's touchscreen tablet will go on sale Friday in the UK at retailer The Carphone Warehouse for €429, or $630.

But if you opt to buy it with a monthly data plan, you can get the Android device for free, the retailer announced Tuesday. The lowest plan is €25 -- or about $37 -- per month for mobile broadband access. You can also pay €35 ($51) per month and get voice and unlimited data."

I can't help with that touchy feely thing, it is a long swim from Arkansas and even my Triumph Daytona can't go fast enough to scoot across the pond

I've ordered one online at the Carphone Warehouse site. Will be my first Android device so I've got a lot of researching of apps to do. I've gone for the data plan only as my company provide me a mobile as part of work so no need for the minutes.

With it being released with android os 1.6, I just can't see how useful it will be with a lot of apps not even working with any os earlier than 2.0. I want this phone so bad but not until I am absolutely certain that it can be rooted and manually updated to froyo or at least officially upgraded to froyo

Default 3am in the UK, anyone got one yet???

I know, it's early, maybe not too many 24-hr stores in the UK or any midnite madness sales. But I figured I would ask

none of the stores opened early for it Im afraid nb_mitch. And yea the android 1.6 thing worries me too. Thats one thing im going to be checking when I go look at it tonight is the market place. If it looks like its missing most of the apps I use I'll probably wait.

I am very tempted though but I cant go until after work. so in about 10 hours time I should be playing with one.

I'm in two minds. I have an HTC Desire and am just looking for a decent sized tablet to use. So the problems for me are:

1. Small screen
2. I'm paying for 3g hardware I don't really need
3. I'd like the camera to be a webcam not a front facing one

The pros are I'm impatient and it's available now :-) However the Huawei S7 is looking promising.

It has 2 cameras front & back, the front facing I believe is better and rear facing from video chatting.

Come with any accessories? What color did is it coming in?

Anything you didn't expect, good or bad?

I'm loving my Desire at the moment. However, I am exchanging it for another Desire tomorrow because of the dust under the screen - it was there when I first took the phone out of the box.

If dust under the screen is a problem with the device in general, I could look towards the Dell. I do really like the Desire, though.

How does it compare to the Desire?

I prefer this to the desire by a mile . I got the carbon black one. It came with a charger, soft case and headphones.

Its faster and thinner than i expected. Sits well in your pocket. Very crisp screen. Buttons at the bottom vibrate when touched and are very precise. Battery seems good so far.

Calling the Dell Streak an "Android Phone" is entering a grey area - with a massive 5-inch screen the device is practically a tablet but it hauls cellular connectivity that make "phone" a perfectly acceptable categorization. By ... Read More
