Hi guys

We all know that the battery life on the desire is a cause for concern. I use mine for alot of navigation when out in the sticks with OS maps and for directions with google maps.

Over the last week, I have got cut short twice while using it for navigation.

I can understand why it is happening so I need a backup. Can anyone recommend a decent portable charger? I have heard that the pebble is about the best? Didnt really want to spend £30 though. A mate of mine got a cheapo one from town which was only about £15, not sure of the brand. I havent seen it, but he reckons it has a solar panel on it so it gets some charge back.

Another (dumb) question about such a device; will I be able to use the phone while it is charging? I would imagine that you can.

Nice one. This is better than the pebble? It doesn't hold as much juice but charges devices quicker?

I don't own a pebble, so I don't know
But I own a JustMobile, so I know about it.

thanks for the link the review mentions no wall charger. Can you the the desire charger to charge it?

Yes, you can use the Desire charger and the Desire USB cable with JustMobile.
No need for a special microUSB adaptor

Bought the TeckNet battery pack TeckNet iEP380 5000mAh Universal USB Battery Pack For: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics from Amazon and it is going back this morning. Only charged my desire about 1.5 times so seriously under the stated 5000mAh capacity. Will buy a pebble instead

I have a Proporta 3400mAH USB charger. Quite small provides about 3 charges (very quickly) and comes with adaptors so my missus can charge her iThingy.

MY pebble has just turned up. Don't like how you don't get a wall adapter. The desire one does nicely though

Charging on AC? It thinks it is charging straight from the mains on this bad boy?
