Default Help !! HTC Desire give black screen of death when I try to enter recovery mode!

I recently tried to root my HTC desire using UNrevoked 3.1. Everything was going well and I even had the desktop gui tell me that the process was "done", however the phone never made it into the green and black recovery menu, and now when I try and enter the recovery menu the phone gives a black screen. I then have to do a hard reset by taking out the battery. I have tried running unrevoked again with the same results and have tried using Rom manager to enter recovery this way, niether of which have helped.

I've spent alot of time searching without answers, if any one thinks they can help or just point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

I'm getting the same thing as this after using UnrEVOked 3.1. When I look in applications I have superuser permissions so I assume it's rooted, but when I try and go into recovery mode I just get a black screen and have to hard reset.

The phone is an HTC Desire, Vodafone branded ROM

ROM 1.24.131.3
HBOOT 0.83.0001
Radio 4.08.00.09

Can anyone please help I really want a custom ROM on my phone and I heard you guys were awesome!

Cheers guys

Welcome to the forum you 2.
I think you will find the problem stems from the 0.83 boot loader, there seem to be a few people with that version encountering problems.

Yeah that's what I thought. Do you know of any workarounds other than downgrading the bootloader to 0.80?

Was going to say this is the method that is being quoted on xda & modaco, but not sure if it works with 0.83.

OK, I think I'm getting somewhere. From what I can tell the latest HTC desire's with 0.83 Bootloader don't have the AMOLED screen. Thisi is causing problems when trying to boot into recovery. I have seeen on a nother forum that there is a new ClockWorkRecovery image to support the SLED screens but I can't find it anywhere?

Any ideas ?

It's absolutely nothing to do with the bootloader, downgrading is the worst thing you could do. The problem is the SLCD screen, which is not supported by the current version of unrevoked3. The updated image is linked in here:

It is done, you have to use the new up to date recovery image:

http://crop.floodbit.org/~defer/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img

Use this with unrevoked and it works a charm !!

Still an old version of clockwork. You're looking at old things which isn't helping.

Please read through rooting faq in my signature
