Default Rooting failures after OTA froyo

Here is how it stands if you have updated to the OTA froyo & you have now decided to try rooting

FAKE FLASH : FAIL
recovery doesnt like the signatures

OLDER PB99IMG.ZIP : FAIL
main version is older so wont flash

CHANGE MTD : FAIL??
pushed flash_image to /data/local although cant flash mtd0.img
because we dont have access to /dev/mtd/mtd1

PUSH FILES VIA RECOVERY : FAIL
devices appears offline to adb

UNREVOKED : FAIL

PAULS R6 METHOD : FAIL
fastboot cant find the device

GOLDCARD RUU METHOD : FAIL
Error 140

This is what a dev over at xda found out not sure why he done it though.

Not sure what he was playing at, he is the dev of open desire.
Only thing i can think of was perhaps he did it as an experiment to see if it could be cracked.

Was thinking about rooting aswell

Do you think that this will be permanent....or just a matter of time until they crack the security (or whatever it is).
Thanks

Well if it is possible to crack the devs over at xda are the ones to do it, they got more reason to now as well because its one of the devs that are stuck

Well we all got our fingers crossed that a hack can be found quick for him, there are quite a few others on here never heeded the warnings that now want to root too.

yea i know, i heeded your warning on the OTA update and have decided against it, going to root instead. want to try out the neophyte 1.4a rom, if i don't like, i can always just flash the official 2.2 froyo rooted rom.

Looks like it could be then, more so as its from the same dev.
Perhaps he has used another name to signify its based on the official release froyo.

When you do take the plunge just take your time, treat it like you are installing a new os on your pc

Yep seen that, upgraded mine to next sense 3.2.
Got more internal ram left with my usual 24 apps installed than with any other rom installed, 135mb.
Its now as fast as neophyte in quadrant too.

That battery mod does look good i admit, you can get it as a seperate install for some roms.

Open desire is a vanilla rom.

If you buy a years membership for i think it is £9.99, you get access to the kitchen.
This gives you the ability to pick your base rom & add what apps you want to the rom, you also don't get any apps you don't want either

that sounds very reasonable! might give that a look in

might root to a vanilla android rom, then buy beautiful widgets off the market or something.. bit of original customization

also, check out the new vanilla rom on xda, psychosis 1.0 i think its called. looks good.

Psychosis 1.0 is a sense based rom m8, although they appear to have used pictures depicting a vanilla version the final give away is with the quadrant score its only 1382.
With open desire a true vanilla rom quadrant reaches 1551.

Your correct it does say no sense in the title which does mean its vanilla, but what they have done is taken the froyo rom with sense & removed the sense ui.
That would explain why its a bit on the low side in quadrant, the better ones are the ones based on the original google/nexus one froyo rom.

Moving back to the original topic, it's now possible to downgreade boot 0.92 -> 0.80 so rooting is possible after installing the 2.2 OTA update:
