Hi,

I got my Desire yesterday and I think it's a cool handheld. But my problem is that neither the speaker nor USB is working. Therefore I can't get root access.

I tried connecting to Windows/Linux/Mac in all different modes with all drivers, but it hasn't been recognized .

I'm afraid it could be a hardware problem. Is there anything I could try?

Hi.

Not sure why you need a speaker to root, but if that isn't working at all I'd send it back as it's clearly a faulty phone you've received.

Thanks for the replies! The dead speaker has nothing to do with the root thing. But I thought it may be caused by a software/firmware failure.

I contacted HTC support, hope they'll send me a new one.
