Default Telus RUU

I was looking at the shipped-roms website of the different RUUs and it got me wondering.

Why isn't there a Telus RUU? :'( But also - how hard is it to make one from the OTA update?

Does the impending 2.2 froyo update mean that someone will make that update file into an RUU? (sorry if that doesn't make sense) Cause then us Telus Desire people can hop around with different ROMs but have assurance in case we need warranty!

I hope this is the case Or is the update actually taking so long because they are fortifying the update so it can't be turned into an RUU and cause a ruckus with people needing to return their Telus branded phones to warranty.

Sorry for any newb confusing non-sense.

From what I understand, the Telus release is an OTA (over the air). It's not an RUU to start with because its an update, not a full image of 2.2. I read on some forum awhile ago someone had a Telus RUU made but didn't try and validate that info - do a search.

As far as your warranty goes... It will be possible to tell if you've changed software. Although the file system for Android on NAND memory only starts with straight data and doesnt have any real file signatures, etc..I'm sure its possible to track what you've done or at least that something is different from when you bought it. Wether or not anyone does actually check , or its easy to check this if you have a warranty issue is another story.

Everything you read here about what is and isn't going to void your warranty is going to be opinion unless someone from Telus Tech wants to jump in. In another thread they are talking about this alot. I mentioned so many things can void your warranty and software is the last thing you should worry about. The warranty people are going to first look for the water stickers, any impact damage, and the administrative issues before they attempt to determine a software violation.
