Default ROM annoyances

right this is getting a bit of a joke, every ROM i've tried seems to have an issue loading on my Desire.

It's getting a bit beyond a joke now, force closes/random freezes accessing internet/market downloads.

I'm a bit stumped as to what I can do get around this tbh, my phone is o2 branded would debranding it have any effect you think?

I would have thought that you debrand as a direct result of flashing a new ROM anyway, but I could be wrong. What ROMS are you trying to install?

Yeah, you debrand anyway when you flash a new ROM, the branding is contained within the ROM you are replacing.

Assume you have rooted?

Have you done a Wipe before installing the new ROM?

The list is pretty long

Defrost
Oxygen
Open Desire
leedroid
Rooted Stock Rom
A few of the modded stock ROMS

all of them display the same behaviour

I wipe before installing and it's always the same. random crashing in any browser I use and Market downloads causing the entire device to freeze.

Tried with a couple of SD Cards to

Dumb question, but you have rooted correctly? Could be worth running unRevoked again?

Yeah it sounds like something did not work quite right in the rooting process as I am currently running Leedroid 2.2f and have just changed from Defrost latest ROM and they are all running perfectly.

Could be worth running that again.

Yeah I rooted the revoked way and it went without a hitch.

interestingly i'm using a different google mail to test and it actually may have something to do with my account.

If he is flashing a rom, the rooting is not an issue. You dont need to be rooted to flash a rom, you only need custom recovery. However, obviously they go hand in hand now.

When you flash a new custom rom, that rom is pre-rooted so its not that that was the issue.

Also if recovery is flashing the rom ok, its not that either.

So iots only ever 1 of 3 things.

1) Data restore or lack of wipe (data and settings from an older rom conflicting with the new)

2) Dodgy rom download (unlikely on numerous roms)

3) Hardware.

If it is email account related, thats sort of 1. Only possibly a manual data restore rather than from a backup
