[index]Useful downloads for root users (updated 22nd July 2011)
Please try not to abuse these links as they are bandwidth restricted. You do not need to download ALL these tools, so please restrict downloads only to what you require.
The (Almost) Ultimate Toolbox
For a while now, Hadron, InfernalByte, Rastaman-FB and I have been collaborating on a joint drop box. We have been uploading things we think would be useful to have to hand to help people having troubles.
Although it is still pretty much a work in progress, I feel I should create an index of the things we have put together so far, from my dropbox.
I'm not doing this for thanks. As I can't easily supply dropbox links from work, I thought it would be easier for me to index them here.
That said, next time you see a post from Hadron, InfernalByte or Rastaman-FB, hit the thanks button under their post to show the love
RUU
2.29.405.5 RUU (Rom Upgrade Utility). Run from a PC to return your device to WWE unbranded stock
PB99IMG.zip
pb99img.zip does the same as an RUU, but if you put "PB99IMG.zip" on your SD card and boot to HBoot, it will do this without the need for a PC
A flashable zip of init.d scripts. Delete the scripts you dont want as applicable. You can edit the contents of the scripts to reflect the values of your choice.
Includes:
A mount script that checks the size of the cache partition. Market downloads that exceed this will be downloaded to /data instead.
***Please remember, if you download something useful from here, Thank Hadron, InfernalByte and Rastaman-FB***
If you have anything you think should be added, please feel free to request it.
Enjoy
Hint* The downloads in this thread are password protected. Use the "Search this thread" link to search for "password". Look for the latest posted by Rastaman-FB

Thanks - going to add this link to my sig (I see you've done that already )
Yeah do! The whole reason was I could reply "link in sig" instead of fiddling around on the bus, trying to get a link, then paste it in the app whilst adding url tags. Had enough of that.
The market is much nicer than the gmail. I dont use the gmail anymore due to my fiance's emails coming through in black text. Other emails were fine however. Just not the most important.

Top job ladies. I'm loving it, reckon ill add it to my Sig aswell, so I can find it too. Well done you 4, top class info from the most helpful guys at all things root!
Good set of links which i will be using in future.
Maybe an option to get a mod to sticky some of the important threads on this forum eg download links, SUroot's faq and rooting guides. Would be good to have them handy at the top of the list.
Thanks for this. I will add to my signature as well.
One thing. I tried the black gmail and don't like it. How do I go back to he original? [Edit]: do I just extract the gmail file from the ROM and install it? Can the original be added to your list in case folk don't like it?

If you want it back in /system/app you can take it from the Rom and just put it in the flashable zip after removing the black one

OK, I did it . I prefer it to Unetboot, . Tiz tested, been runnin it since around the new year an I been happy with it, I don't need to run it that often but it actually lets you do what it says on the tin and makes a multiboot list.

I'm off for a walk in Snowdonia so I wont be on for the next week, I thought I'd let you guys know so you wouldn't be worried about me. I might ave gotten my arm stuck under the cat and couldn free myself or something.
Sorry but how do you flash these apps onto the phone?
I have to ask, how do I flash these apps onto my rooted Desire?
Just went to LeeDroid 3.06 and need to 'flash the alignment patch' but have no idea what to do. For any of these downloads do I place the .zip file on the SD card or the extracted folder contents and run the .apk file somehow or do I use the recovery bootloader thingie to begin the flash?
Device(s): HTC Desire (rooted and thoroughly modded)

Generally you flash a zip by putting it on sd, booting into recovery, then selecting the "install zip from SD card" option. But there are exceptions, such as the PB99IMG.zip (which you flash from hboot). If you aren't sure about something, find out before going ahead. Read the FAQs and guides.
I understand that the alignment patch zips are flashed through recovery, but please note Rastaman's advice in post 36 and follow it exactly. These things will wipe your sd-ext, so you'll need to restore from the nandroid afterwards.

if you used gparted to create the partition you do not need to run those
its only if you used other partition tools or rom manager you should run these
they do not create the partition, only convert and align an existing one

I have a HTC desire S and it comes up with the HTC screen when i turn it on and then just stays on that until i then remove the battery to turn it off.
I've tried to do the recovery (when i hold the down volume key and the power button) but it doesn't do anything.
I was wondering if any of these downloads would work to sort the problem out and if they're safe considering i don't want to ruin my £400 phone which is just over a month old.
Updated with Note: Please note that due to excessive use of my dropbox, my public links have been suspended for 3 days as of 6th June 2011. It may well happen again, so once activated, please only download what you need at the time. Don't Blitz it.
