Default process com.android.mms has stopped for mms messsages

Hi,

I've seen several threads on this issue but none directly apply to my problem.

I get the following message when I try to download an image I get in an mms message. I also get the same when I try to send an image via mms. This is driving me nuts.

I have tried clearing the messaging cache. No deal. I tried it with my sd card unmounted. Again, did not work. I have downloaded handcent and this again crashes just like the stock messaging app. Any ideas?

Running Cyanogenmod 7.1

Thanks for any help.
