Default ROM Help - MIUI xj

I have heard a lot og good things about this and want to use this on my desire. I have few questions:

1. When I go to the link on the XDA site there seems to be two files .zip and .zip.md5sum. Which one should I be using?

2. I have root with CWR but no s-off. Is this good enough to flash this ROM?

3. The main reason for me to partition was to gain more memory. Will this ROM come with A2SD+ or do I have to flash it separately?

Much thanks in advance for your help.

The zip is the rom - the other is the md5 sum in case you want to check the download.

You can install it when S-On. It includes DarkTremor a2sd.

Well a md5 sum is like a code to say if a file has been modified.
For example if I made a notepad document it might have a checksum (to keep it short) 0000000000
But if that file was edited it anyway, I believe that check sum would change to anything else, for example 00098632.
So when someone posts a ROM or anything like that, the poster usually shows the check sum there so you know it hasn't been modified in any way.

That's how I understand it.

Iirc Miui has a2sd already, no need to flash anything else.
Just make sure your sd card has been partitioned using GParted.

No need for s-off either.
For general usage of your phone, you don't need s-off.

I hope this helps.

I have been using MIUI-XJ and have noted that for some apps the font is white on white background. Is there anyway of sorting this out? Is this due to the theme I am using?

Also what is the difference between MIUI-XJ and MIUI-Au?

It seems that there is lot less help re ROM here - I guess I was spoilt by Rasta and SU and the others Like Tyseyh with the ammount of support they provide on rooting.

1 last attempt on getting some help on the MIUI ROM I am using: I am trying to upgrade the ROM using the inbuilt upgrade function. But the CWR seems to stop it saying - Signature not verified. Is there anyway to get past this? or am I better off not attempting to upgrade?

Also using MIUI-XJ has been great. I absolutely love the ROM but the ROM seems bit laggy. It has got worse today with everything taking ages to load up. Hence my attempt to upgrade. I want to stick with MIUI - Is Au or the Official one any better?

Signature verification can be toggled in recovery - have you tried that?

Does a simple reboot affect the lag?

Go into recovery and select "toggle signature verification". I think it's in the "install zip from SD card" menu rather than "advanced" in CWM - shouldn't be too hard to find.

Hi,

Were you able to solve it?
Just wanted to caution you. Pls check from which version to which version you are going to. There could be problems of UID mismatch.

I have been using MIUI XJ for a month and loving it...though experiencing some hangs and have to restart with battery remove.
Not yet able to find the cause of Hang or solution to that...

Regards,

No - I have stopped using MIUI-XJ. However I did manage to sort most of my problems before moving. I would still love to go back to MIUI one day. I am now using Mildwild. It is smooth but I installed my first game today and have been experiencing slow down and crashes. Also there seems to be a problem with Go at the mo.
