Default Advice please
I have been 'rooted' for ages now and have been enjoying Sandvold's ICS version, but a few days ago i was persuaded by a friend to try 'Gingerbread', so I got the RUU but now I've had enough of 2.3.3 and want to return to 'rooted' and ICS, but I've no idea how to proceed and would appreciate advice.

Why did you use the RUU? You could have just flashed a pre-rooted stock ROM based on that.

Anyway, the answer is "revolutionary". There's a guide linked in the "all about rooting" sticky thread.
