Default Swapping sd card help please.

Have decided to put a bigger sd card in my rooted phone. So I found this thread :
Installing a new SD card when you have A2SD+
and this advice
Quote:
1. get gparted live CD and burn to CD or unetboot install to usb
2. format new sdcard as fat32 and create a second partion as ext3 (min 512)
3. boot to recovery on device (voldown+power) and make a backup of the current rom in clockworkmod (or amonRA if you are using that)
4. mount ms (mass storage) from recovery and copy the contents from the sdcard to the pc.
5. power off device and swap SDcards and then boot straight back to recovery and mount ms (mass storage) then copy the data from pc to the new sdcard dismount ms (mass storage).
6. go to backup/restore and restore the backup created
7. reboot device, enjoy
I have formated and created a EXT3 partition on my new sd card. My question is instead of as it says in Rastaman-FB advice, copying all the data from the sd card to computer while the old sd card is in the phone and then copying it back to the new sd card once installed.

Can I take a nandroid, power off and remove old card and put data on comp then copy the data to the new card. Put new card in and boot into recovery and restore the nandroid and reboot?

I only ask as it takes so damn long to copy data to and from my phone when connected to my rather old low powered note book (512mg of ram! Gotta get a new one :/) But transfering data on the laptop takes a lot less time.
Thanks in advance.

You can get the data from the SD card to the computer in anyway you see fit. If you have a card reader, then this should be fine.
