Default ic restore apps

I was reading about the above utility on xda..

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][09.02.12]Runnymede AIO V6.0.4 Special Edition

"first install all your apps
reboot in recovery
backup your rom (you never now)
install ic backup apps zip
it great's a zip file on the sdcard with all your apps sd-ext/app in the zip file
now do a full wipe clean install
and flash the new rom (example -new version of my rom)
and right after that
install the ic.restore.apps.zip
and reboot
the bootup takes a little longer now

and your done all apps are there

restore the data for the apps with titaniumbackup"

It seems like a great utility.. but I've not seen it mentioned on here so I'm treating it with suspicion!

http://e-tel.eu/post/5831858062/backup-apps-wipe-flash-rom-restore-apps

Just read on here that it's only been tested on insertcoin so it may be useless for MildWild users like myself.

Any thoughts/opinions appreciated.

Thanks

WOw.. I didn't expect a reply that quick!

I'm currently only making nandroid backups and using titatium to backup apps and some system settings.

I know that some use "my backup root" but can't see what they need to backup which isn't covered already by nandroid and titanium.

The only other backup I'm aware that people use is sms backup+ to backup SMS messages which is on my list of apps to download and try.

Have you tried this tool, Bradden? Looks pretty handy.

But as I'm a creature of habit, I'll probably stick with Titanium and SMS Backup.

titanium pro and smsbk for me - cant go wrong with them

....but how hard is it to get titanium to 'forget' about an uninstalled app?! :/

Making Ti "forget" is easy. There's a setting for it to delete backups of uninstalled apps. Personally I don't use that - I like having a lazy way of reinstalling an old app if I want. But you can also individually delete apps from Ti's backups. It's all up to you really.

I do still use MyBackup, but only because it's quicker restoring messages than SMS Backup+. I certainly use SMS Backup+ as my main backup for messages and call logs.

There's a batch operation "delete backups for uninstalled apps" (at the bottom of the batch list). If you choose that you can then select/deselect backups you want to delete before running the operation.

As I say, I've never used it, but it's there.

I use this often and it works very well. I also use Titanium to restore data for selected apps e.g. Free Stats, Usage, SMS Backup+. I don't use it to restore system setting. Find that after a full wipe it gives the best results i.e. no forced closed etc.

Cool.. I might give it a test drive when I update mildwild. If it works im surprised it's not better known.
