Default ROM that will allow me to tether (without plan)

Hi all - It has been ages since I have come to this site and it is good to see that some of the usual very helpful people still visit the HTC Desire section.

I have just recently become a proud owner of Nexus 7. I would like to use it outside of my house and show it off to my friends but there is a slight problem. Nexus 7 only uses wifi. I could get a tethering deal on my phone but this costs about 5 more per month on Orange which I can not afford. Since I have an old "unlimited" data contract, is it possible to make my Desire tether without having to take up contract? May be a patch or a modified ROM?

Thanks!

Most of the ROMs I've used (all AOSP, no idea about Sense ROMs) have had the "WiFi hotspot" feature, which is wireless tethering. Doesn't MildWild include this?

Now if the network analyses the traffic to identify tethering that's a different matter.

Mildwild does seem to have this option but when I turn it on and try and connect to the Wifi Hotspot, nothing happens. Not sure if this is a Mildwild problem, my phone, my network (Orange) or me.

I will give this new ICS ROM a go and see if that will solve the problem.
