Anybody know if I can use this to charge my HTC Desire HD

Twilight - Bedside Digital and FM Radio with Mood and Wake-up Light.

It says it can charge your phone as well as allits other functions but says it does'nt recommend anything which takes more than 500 mA. I'm not sure what the desire HD phones takes? If its more what will happen? The phone won't charge or will break my radio?

If your talking about the USB port it has for charging stuff it should work. My clock radio has one and it works to charge it up, mind you its pretty slow but it works. Here is the one I have:
