i also tried with goldcard but no success, i made already a goldcard for sure (a working goldcard)
and some others i cant remember now
i also looked and followed many guides and tutorials but with no success, so i though i go and post a thread here
My device is the following:
htc desire hd (ace) a9191 (Vodafone Branded but simlock free)
S-OFF with a tool from htc official site.
android version 2.3.5
htc sense: 3.0
build-version: 3.13.161.3 CL208029
Kernel version: 2.6.3.10-g931a37e
i cant temproot and if i try to root it with for example with adb commands i get a $ and i need a # (temproot) and if i try the advanced ace hack kit i can get through every step but it wont root it with the file PD98IMG.zip
also when i want to downgrade i somehow get stuck with the build version or im stuck because its branded i dont know exactly, i think there is a step for step way like first unbrand then downgrade, i dont know it anymore.
i hope i informed you guys enough, im kind of stuck so can anybody please help me through or get me some tutorials of how to do it please.
@ el presidente:
im running this hack kit version:
aahk-13012012 (that is the filename) more i dont know about it, if i got the wrong advanced ace hack kit could you give me a link with another please.
@ cdplant:
it says that everything is done good in the cmd window, and it will check the image file in my phone at the bootloader, and yes it is checking the file but it doesnt flash twice (2) as described in the last step from the cmd at the advanced ace hack kit, sorry little confused english he he, if you dont understand i can try to explain it better or show you some images.
You mention the cmd, so I assume you are using Windows. The hack kit can work with Windows, but more often that not you will run into some problems. Do you have any access to either mac osx or linux? The hack kit should run fine using one of those. It is a bit inconvenient but it will go more smoothly. If not, I will have a look and try and find a solution to the problem you have using it with Windows.

what do i need to typ in the terminal the same things as described in guilds for windows? like "adb push" commands?
The manual is in the zip file of the hack kit which will show you the commands to run the script. Once you run it follow the on screen instructions and its good to go

If I remember correctly, it is designed to make you read all the way to the end of the help file and near the end is a link that will take you to the pass key.

never mind the question i found it out, i was in the archive manger i guess and i had 2 aahk downloaded im really lost in ubuntu haha but the aahk program is now running in the terminal now hoping it works i keep you guys updated
hmm after the pushing rom to sdcard and after temproot i get an error with unable to chmod /data/local/tmp/goldcard.img: operation not permitted, but it still is ongoing is that good? i still get to follow the steps, but i was wondering if that error is good or not
hmm strange the same issue as if i try it in windows, i get to the final step that says it will check the file that has been sended to the phone and yes it does check the file after checking it says ino image or wrong image and in the steps the phone must prompt me to press volume up to continue but i dont get that i get in the boot menu with the options like reboot phone and hboot etc.
I've the same issue here. I've tried with both 64bit Ubuntu, and 32bit Linux Mint, using aahk-13012012. Everything seems to go well, but I get the same chmod error. The phone then seems to reject the new image, and I can't progress the rooting procedure.
i dont know how to relock it, if i try the tool from htcdev.com again it says i have a higher version (3.13.161.3) than the allowed unlock rom (3.13.000.0) what now is there a program to relock it?
i found it out, just start your phone normal, plug the usb cable at the phone & pc and select charge only and make sure it is in developer mode, then go to start -> cmd and typ in fastboot oem lock, that its all you dont need to go to a specific map or program to typ that only make sure windows got your bootloader drivers installed works like a charms i now gonna use aahk i keep you guys informed if it worked

Reason: forgot the cable instructions
i got everything worked im looking now for a good rom, one with automatic processor settings and improved wifi strength and if possible with looks from ice cream sandwich does some1 know a good rom?
after i relocked it i re-runned the aahk newest tool, at the end it checked double the file instead of 1 time and then an error, after the 2 time check i got into the stock htc android 2.3.3 after that i runned the aahk tool again and it rooted my phone and setted s-off that was it for me after that i got the change to install custom roms, hope this helps you and others as well

trying to root my desire hd using aahk.during the initial step where it downloads a file and asks us to press 'y' for flashing..after that i get an error
"Unable to chmod /data/local/tmp/goldcard.img: Operation not permitted"...
But the process still continues and the phone restarts several times.and in the end that img file is checked and i am asked to update.cancelled that update though because did not want to mess up anything.
What am i doing wrong here..why that error in the beginning..

the aahk is creating a gold card out of your sd,with it present and in the phone,in attempt to eliminate a potentially confusing manual step. the error you mention seems to be the aahk is having issue creating the gold card.
if you were asked to update on the phone, you can allow it-all it means is that you are unbranded,or simply a CID that allows unbranded RUUs to flash. the failure to create a goldcard would have prevented the phone to ask for the update if it was an incompatible CID.
assuming you have a working phone,go ahead and run the aahk again,if you want to. if you allow the update this time,it should downgrade and run the exploit to give you s-off,supercid and simunlock

as soon as i got that chmod error, aahk asked me to pressvolume key+power button when i see a red triangle.did it and it went into some recovery mode, blue screen with some options.rebooted it from there.did this step 2 times and the 3rd time it went into the hboot asking me to press volume button to start update.i did not update and rebooted the phone because i wanted to clear out that goldcard error

you can allow that update. the hboot update is installing downgrade firmware,so that the unlock exploit can be run.
pushing rom to sdcard - this takes time, please be patient.

Aahk said something like starting recovery..and after that phone restared several times till it reached hbbot for update..this thing and the red triangle at startup, are these things normal?Actually never rooted any phone before thats why so curious...

I have used the kit a few time's, and it does sound like its all normal to me. As long as it asks you to do the update, you should be fine. Not sure why that error appears though, i could be that you're unbranded and its skipping that part??

i have never run the aahk,so i cannot confirm for certain what you are seeing. i have written a manual guide to basically the same thing,so i am familiar with the basic process the aahk is doing for you.
id say the "Unable to chmod /data/local/tmp/goldcard.img: Operation not permitted.." is not normal, but again,it apparently did not matter. if your phones CID was incompatible with the downgrade, the hboot screen would have give you a "CID incompatible" error,in wich case it would have been important for us to figure out why that error would take place.
since you arrived at an hboot screen asking you to update, then the rest of what the aahk does(gain temp root, rewrite the main version to allow the downgrade) apparently went without a hitch,so i would venture to guess the reboots and different screens you saw were in fact a fairly normal occurance.
again, you can accept this update on the hboot screen without fear of anything bad happening. as a matter of fact,it is prolly still on your sd card,so you may be able to boot to hboot, let it find the file, and accept the update without running aahk again(assuming the emmc hasnt changed your main version back to what it should be). if this is successful, let the phone boot into the downgrade softwarte, plug the phone back in and select the option to root,s-off,etc. dont panic if your sound doesnt work while on the downgrade software. be prepaired to immediately flash an update ruu,or install a recovery and flash a newer rom to get back to a 100% sound enabled, functional device
hopefully D-U-R-X can confirm some of the things you are seeing for some peace of mind,ad he has experience running the aahk... im sure he will be along shortly

Hey saeedyasir91! I have only used the AAHK once and that was a while ago now. I don't think that you should have any issues and would go for it! We will be able to run the stock RUU with you if we need to, to put you back on to stock!

This is what I am currently running... in the ATR Guide sticky, I have changed the name of the link just to IceColdSandwich, as the guy updates the OP of the thread on XDA each time they have a new version.
It's a good ROM... it is Vanilla Android (does not have HTC's Sense overlay/UI)... I prefer Vanilla Android and have had it on my phone since about 3-4 weeks after I got my phone

Anything in particular? There are some pretty good Sense replacements.
